Mounted Characters with halberds recieve +1 str and dont have to strike last?
I had a game tonight and we couldnt figure out wether or not mounted characters could wield halberds and still recieve the str bonus.
Could anyone tell me the answer?
Yep they still have the bonus and do not strike last, does need two hands to wield it though so no shield!
Arms are an instrument of evil, No measure for thoughtful men until there fail all other choice but sad acceptance of it.

The rules for halberds do not make any distinction between infantry and cavalry, so mounted units with halberds get exactly the same +1S that infantry do. They strike in initiative order too, because halberds don't have a strike last rule. Why did you think that cavalry with halberds might have to strike last?
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.

Well, we checked the rules on weapon types, and unlike the great weapon reference it didnt differentiate between mounted and infantry... so my opponent assumed i couldnt use it while mounted (as it didnt say i could) however, flails can be used while mounted without saying they could be, so i extrapolated and said i could use my halberd while mounted.
Opponent then countered with, "well whats the disadvantage to using halberds then?" (as GW lose +1 str when mounted) and i couldnt think of one, so i thought id ask you guys here on your opinions
Thanks though, ill let him know what the verdict is.
Since GW nerfed GW mounted, there is NO benefit for Great Weapons over Halberds - which was fortunate as most of my mounted cavalry heroes have short-hafted halberd, until of course the ASF rules clarification..

Of course there's the other 10 or 12 army books that don't have Halberds in them =). There's also non-cavalry mounts. If (when) your chariot gets shot out from under you by a cannon, your GreatWeapon is +2 now!
