Hi, I'm new to warhammer fantasy as i have always been a 40k player.
I'm just wondering if there are any changes between the 6th and 7th editions of the Warhammer rulebook, as I have seen the 6th edition very cheap.
Is it worth buying it or are the rules in it not valid anymore.
They wouldn't release a new edition if there weren't any changes. Unfortunately 7th ed is the only option if you want to start playing the game.
Agreed, and if you don't want to dish out $50 for a new hardcover, try eBaying or just Google Shopping a mini rulebook. It'll be much cheaper and is a heck of a lot easier to tote around. It's no different from the big one except that it doesn't contain the modeling section or as much fluff.
If you're playing either Dwarves or Greenskins, consider getting the Skull Pass set. It's well worth the money for all the models you get, and then on top of it you get the mini rulebook.
Also, congrats for switching to Fantasy! It's always good to see people come over from the dark side.

No, I don't have any wool.
Fantasy needs more to its cause! *stamps name down*
