Just read the Steam Tank description and there was something that struck me at once. The rule concerning the hull of the tank states that only spells with a given strength can hurt the tank, but the first and the last spells of the lore of metal have a strength based on the armour save of the model targeted. Is this a given strength?
I would say it has a given strength but people would argue that if you ask: "What is the strength of [insert the name of the spells here]?" the answer would be they have no given strength.
5000p. High Elves
What is the armour save of the hull on the steam tank? If it doesn't have one then the spells in question do not have a specified strength and thus can't affect it.
Dovie'andi se tovya sagain (It's time to roll the dice)- Mattrim Cauthon
The spell has a defined strength at the time the attack is resolved. Just because you had to look it up on a table doesn't mean it doesn't have a value! The immunity would be to a spell like Wind of Undeath that causes a wound on a 4+ without any kind of S vs T comparison.
Thats a really good question. They should FAQ that.
Rule of Burning Iron, Distillation of Molten Silver and Spirit of the Forge will all work against the steam tank since they have a S value.
While it is a variable S value based on the model's save, it is still a S value. This doesn't need a FAQ at all.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
note however, the wording in spirit of the forge can be deceptive in regards to the number of hits it will make against a steam tank. "2d6 models" rather than "2d6 hits" means that regardless of what you roll, the steam tank will only be hit once.

Not so, sorry. The official Errata & FAQ from GW changes it to 2D6 hits.
