Can you put for example a Stegadon with a Skink Chief on it into a unit of Saurus Warriors? I've read that monsters can't join units, but is it different for monstrous mounts?
It says right in the BRB that characters on monsterous mounts cannot join units.
Hrm maybe not... it says that unless ridden by a Character a Monster may not join units. It also says that a character on a flying mount cannot join units. It doesn't actually say a character riding a monster may not join a unit.
Fifth page, first question:
Q. If a character riding a non-flying monster joins
a unit and then is killed, what happens to the
monster (if it continues to fight), as monsters
cannot normally join units?
A. At the end of the phase, the monster is moved
outside the unit, in base contact with it, as close as
possible to the position it was occupying when

Yes you can put a character ridden monster in any unit that a character could join if it were on foot. Characters on flying mounts can't join units, except in the case of the new lizardman book, where skink chiefs on terradons can join a unit of terradon riders.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
Thanks a lot
