Hello again guys.
I've been wondering whether Chargers move full charge distance or move as if they did a failed charge against targets who purposely flees (charge reaction) or flees from psychology tests?
Let me give You an example:
I brilliantly deploy my unit of Dark Riders (DE, fast cavalry) to bait on my opponents unit of Blood Knights (frenzyyy!). I place my DR's so the distance to the Bloody Knights are 12".
In my VC opponents turn, his BLood knights have to charge me (DR's = the closest enemy unit) and I wont watch the annihilation of my cool looking horsemen, so I ofc flee and rally with them.
Firstly, do my DR's have to take fear test caused by the Blood Knights, or are they too busy with fleeing purposely?
Secondly, if my DR's flee out of the blood knights charge distance (should automaticly be able to handle the last 2" :p) will the Blood Knights move:
1) the 12" which was the original distance to my DR's
2) the 14" full charge distance (Blood knights = movement 7 - due to barded nightmares)
3) 6" as a failed charge - relating to 1
4) 7" as a failed charge - relating to 2
This is just a specific situation, it should be the same deal for anyone fleeing from a charge, either as a charge reaction or due to a failed psychology test.
Hope you'll help
Thanks in advance!
and FU Blood Knights
Nope, there's not a lot to be afraid of when running away!Firstly, do my DR's have to take fear test caused by the Blood Knights, or are they too busy with fleeing purposely? This is it.Secondly, if my DR's flee out of the blood knights charge distance (should automaticly be able to handle the last 2" :p) will the Blood Knights move:
4) 7" as a failed charge - relating to 2
Hope this helps.
Oh, forgot he can chose who to target. Thx for reminding
Thanks for the answer, I thought they'd have to move 12 or 14" which would make fast cav totally overpowered
Just to touch on a couple of things not covered:
1. You test for fear/terror before reactions are made, so they would have to test for fear, but since you planned on running, it wouldn't really matter in this situation.
2. It is considered a failed charge if you get out of range with your flee, and a failed charge is always based on their movement, not the distance between units, so they would move 7", but as already stated, the frenzied chargers do get to choose who they charge of the possible units in range.
Actually it would matter when it comes to fast cavalry. If you run due to failing a fear check you won't be able to move if you rally next turn, but if you run due to being charged, then you can move if you rally next turn, so it does matter.

If they are found to be in range at this point, the test is somewhat moot as they are automatically destroyed anyway
"After you declare charges but before you measure whether chargers are within range, your opponent declares how each charged unit will respond"
Some people will use this to cheat and declare charges they know they are out of range of, but I guess some people are just like that.
Didn't you just prove his point there. You declare charges, he declares a response. If he chose flee, the fear test is moot as he is already gone.
And yes, there was an errata. You don't take a fear test if the unit is found to be out of charge range so people can't make charges they know would fail just to cause a fear check.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
Yeah, apparently, I'm a jackass and it's way too early for me to be trying to think and make intelligent posts anywhere. While I continue trying to fully wake up, I'm going to read through the erratas and faqs and see if I can find that.
