I was discussing the rules for dispelling spells that remain in play with a friend of mine just now, and we came up with something peculiar. Now, if I'm correct (I do not own the BRB (shame on me!) but tend to know the rules pretty well anyway), after you've cast your spells in your own magic phase, you may attempt to end spells that remain in play (such as HE Flames of the Phoenix) using your power dice. Assuming this is correct (and if I'm mistaken, please enlighten me!), may armies fielding no casters attempt this procedure? Also, do dwarves even have an offensive magic phase, seeing as though their only means of spellcasting is the Anvil of Doom, and that takes place in the shooting phase...?
We found that FotP could really hurt Dwarves if they fail to dispel it in the first place. Even if they are allowed to dispel it, they'd need to roll 11+ on 2 measley PD! Grilled stunties on a stick!
In there magic phase they will generate the two pool dice that all armies get. They can use these to try to dispel a remains in play spell.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
Super, thank you!
can you dispell remains in play spells in the enemy magic phase i.e they finish casting and i have 3 dice left can i opt to dispell a comet for instance also can i use scrolls to do this???
also if the unit has magic resistance, they may add those dice to the dispelling attempt. so dwaves havnt got it so bad, well appart from dispelling comet, then you need a double 6... gutting for you
Fantasy : Empire, Chaos Warriors, Chaos Daemons, Vampire Counts, Beastmen, High Elves, Lizardmen( but i have opinions on every army just not the money)
40k: Black Templars, Imperial Guard, Dark Eldar, Tau (thinking of Eldar)
There's also the Master Rune of Valaya. It automatically dispells any remains in play spells within 12 inches of the standard it's placed on. Expensive rune, can prety much only be put on a BSB. But has been well worth it. It also adds +2 to any dispell rolls you make.
