I was wondering what the most common unit deployment methods in most tournaments are. Of course you dice off to see who gets to place first, and first to finish placing gets +1 on who gets first turn. But what about characters? I generally play that all of the characters are placed at once, and you wait until all units have been placed, and whoever finished placing units first puts their characters down first. Is this how most places do it?
Well it is said in the rulebook how you deploy, you can deploy whatever you want in any order, the only thing is characters go last, and they are all placed at once, also, warmachines can be placed at any point before characters, but all warmachines go down at the same time.
As BustaCaps mentioned, there are rules specifically for how you deploy in the rulebook, and every tournament I've played in has had that as the norm. Sometimes there are funky scenarios which may alter it slightly, but those are pretty rare exceptions.
"and you wait until all units have been placed, and whoever finished placing units first puts their characters down first."
Note that you do not wait for your opponent to finish deploying, you deploy characters as if they are your last unit
