Question regarding monsters and handlers in close combat. Can you direct all attacks against the monster, or are hits randomized between the monster and the handlers.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
Page 73 says "when the monster suffers am unsaved wound, roll a D6. On a roll of 1-4 the monster suffers the wound as normal, but on a roll of a 5-6 a handler model is removed instead."
It does not specify that this only occurs via ranged attacks or spells etc. but in general. So if the monster suffers a wound in close combat, roll a D6 and on a 5-6 the handler gets killed.
Some monsters also have specifically in their profile that the handlers do not get hit as well. Just in case you play someone and think they're cheating
Fantasy: Wood Elves, Dark Elves, Beastmen and Tomb Kings.
LotR: Misty Mountains and Rohan
From what I can tell it seems better in the sense that all attacks against the monster and handlers use the monsters Toughness.
Dark Elf Hydras are an exception as 8people mentioned for example.
40K: Tyranid, Necron, Space Wolves
Fantasy: Dark Elves, Lizardmen, Orcs & Goblins, Dwarves
