Ive have seen 2 schools of thought on armour saves and im really confused.
1. armour saves can never be better then 1+ (always fail on a 1)
2. armour saves can go below 1+ eg 0+ (but always fail on a 1)
the second one is obviouly for higher strength attacks so if you had 0+ and where hit with strength 5 you could still save on a 2+. Whereas if you only had 1+ your save would be modified to 3+.
which is correct 1 or 2

1 is correct, your armour save can never fall below 1+
from the rulebook (pg 43)
'Note that a model can never have a save (of any kind) better than 1+ for any reason, and that, even then, a roll of 1 is always a failure.'
Ashen got it right- according to the 8th ed. rulebook, an armor save can never be better than a 1+, and always fails on a 1.
Note that this is a change from 7th and all previous editions however. You used to be able to get armorsaves of 0 or better (record I think was a Lizardman Scar Vet who could rock a -2+ armor save when properly equipped, or Chaos Exalted on a Juggernaut with an Enchanted Shield). So if you hear people talking about 0+, be gentle in reminding them that this has just changed.
Just to note - it is possible for Warriors of Chaos to get a 0+ armour save courtesy of the "Iron-hard Skin" result on the Eye of the Gods table if the character rolling already has a 1+
This hasn't been sorted in an Errata yet so as Army Book rules trump main rulebook rules, at present it stands
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
Yea, but the question is if the armour saves still save on a 2+ if the strength is 4 or more, if the total is 1+ or better. "Stacking"
Khorne approves this message.
The BRB states that the best save you can have is a 1+, even if you could normally get that down to a 0+ or more. The best that I've seen is a Lizardman Old Blood who was capable of getting a -1sv. The thing is, the BRB is written so that no matter how low you get that number, you are stopped a 1+. A S4 will always cause you to save on a 2+ at best, and S5 will always knock you to a 3+.
It's a silly rule, but it stopped people from pulling weird stuff. There's no more stacking. A 1+ is the best you can get, anything past that is a waste of points.
