I am not so sure if this would fit in this section, but what are artillary dice? And what other dice would i need?
artillery dice are used in fantasy for warmachines, scatter dice are used for direction, and normal D6 for everything else. They are covered in the rulebook though....
i figured that but what is an artillary dice? A 20 sided dice? And can't you get scatter dice at gamesworkshop?
It's a six sided dice with numbers for scatter range, and a misfire symbol on it.
The Artillery Dice is six sided, it has the numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and either the word 'misfire' or a ! in a star type explosion. It is used for war machines mostly (cannons, ST etc), the Scatter dice has arrows pointing in various directions with either the word 'hit' or a target looking icon.
Both come with the boxed set you got your rules with (the big white dice) or in the dice GW sell instore.

When u buy the rulebook you get dice? I didnt know that.
Depends on if you buy the rulebook or the boxed set that contains the rulebook. The starter set has dice, miniatures, range rulers, even a bit of terrain... oh yeah and the rulebook. The rulebook is just the rulebook, but it's only like $35 if I remember correctly.
Of course you could always just use a normal D6 for either. Just double the result for artillery dice, misfire on a 6, and for scatter use the direction of the 1 side, and it's a hit if you roll a 1 or a 6. Of course, it's easier with normal artillery dice, but the option is there.
KU was referring to a page that describes the dice I think, it's not like they're taped in on page 37.
...or are they?
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, even if it's wrong.
Heh ok, yea the rulebook is 35$. I'm probably just going to start with rulebook and another army, the starter set doesnt't come with any army I like, thanks for the info.
dude you don't have to buy the basic box set to get them. You might have missunderstood but GW sells a set of dice that comeswith a bunch of d6s (red and black) a scatter dice and an Artilery dice. Its about 10CDN so like 8 bucks in the us. hope that clears it up. I think a warhammer accesory company makes a set but i don't know the name of the company or have the website.
Yea i know they sell them i just dont want the starter box because it doesnt have an army i want, im just going to buy the rule book and the dice.
