Okay, I started this thread so that I wouldn't inundate this forum with different WE questions. I'll post them in all here and welcome anyone else to do the same.
This question concerns upgrading glade guard to scouts. According to the rules GG can have a full command, including a magical banner. For a certain number of points, GG can be upgraded to scouts. But it doesn't mention if scouts can have a full command. I assume that they could, but then again, I'm not so sure.
Does anyone know of similar rules in other armies or some other route to a solution? Or can anyone just reason out a plausible answer?
It can make a big difference because one banner the scouts could take would let them extend their march block range beyond 8", and that's pretty huge for scouts running around behind enemy lines.
Thanks for any ideas!
I would say that yes you can still have a full command. There's nothing under the entry where they are allowed to become scouts that says they can't take a full command, so there's really no reason why it would change.
GW, surprisingly, is usually very clear in these types of cases. They'll say something to the effect of "If you decide to upgrade your models to scouts then they are no longer allowed to have a full command"
I think you've got a winner with that combo, at least until someone complains and GW changes the rules on you.
This, presumably, is some sort of Wood Elf specific rule?Originally Posted by DavidVC04

It's a magical banner that extends the march block range to 12". Allows more time to shoot enemies full of holes.Originally Posted by Tzeentch Lord
Dwarfs have scouts? Well, I'll be. That's surprising. (Don't get to play against Dwarfs too often...the one player with them has disappeared).
Not only is it odd, but I have never used them because they go entirely against the feel of a Dwarf army.
I also know some other Dwarf players who feel the same as me. In fact, some of us have even sent emails to GW saying, what the heck were you thinking? Elves have Scouts, but Dwarves... Nooooo.
Would it make a difference that when the Glade Guard become Scouts, they adopt the skirmisher formation?
I'm really looking forward to getting my Wood Elves. And the resident WE player said that Scouts are generally not worth it with alternatives like Waywatchers and Warhawk Riders, but I think the new Glade Guard models are boss! and I want to use some as Scouts.
Also, is the banner so expensive that you'd have to put it on a Battle Standard Bearer, or could you just give them the magic banner and be done with it?
not only that they also have heavy armour (which of course helps them to be stealthy)Originally Posted by karantalsis

No, the standard I've mentioned, "Saemrath - the Banner of the Zenith," can be taken by GG. GG can take a magical banner up to a certain amount, and this banner is within that range. Unfortuntaely, GG Riders can't take a magical standard.
