Does anyone know if dwarf warriors or longbeards that are upgraded to rangers still count when determining the ratio of warriors-to-longbeards in the army?
thanks in advance.

So it was intentional that they were useless scouts. What are they actually good at?
Basically they are Great Weapon Warriors, with the scout ability. They can also take throwing axes, which can also be very helpful when dealing with skirmishers that never seem to want to closs (or a nasty Str 5 ranged attack for longbeard rangers.)
Well, with them being scouts you'd have the advantage of being able to deploy them after the complete opponent's army has deployed (except the enemy scouts of course), thus maybe spoiling some enemy deployment plans (like some fast cav wanting to get to a certain point but now BAM! there are some sturdy dawi fighters blocking the desired path (and crossbows are no good news for light armor :shifty: )
