According to page 152 of the Rulebook "A character can only have one magical item of each type, unless otherwise noted."
Then the rules for the enchanted shield on 154 say "This can be combined with other magical or mundane armour." However that is in refference to the save, not the item. However I was messing around in the army builder and happened to get the Enchanted Shield and a magical helm both on one character (giving me, after being mounted on a barded steed, and with full plate mail a (-1)+ save).
So, is this really possible? Because that just seems crazy as it would be quite hard to force this character out of always saving on a 2+.
The way I'm looking at that, of course you can because your not using two enchanted shields on one model. (Which happens to be the way the store I play/work at interprets that as well...)

Yes, the enchanted shield can be combined with other magical equipment, just as it states in the BRB. I didn't know that for a long time, was told the rule, read the entries, and thought, "Well, crap. How did I miss that?"
But yes, it's entirely legal.
So, that pretty much makes an amazing save possible, even on foot. That's just crazy. It's too bad I play Lahmians and can't use any armour at all.
But anyone with a 4+ save with the shield and another piece of armour that gives a 6+ save would let you have a 1+ save and on foot. Eh, for VC that doesn't matter much, though. Because we can get a 1+ save for less than the cost of getting it through those means.
But that's just wacky.
