View Full Version : So SLOW...

Koss

Every time i go to LO my connection goes to hell. Its not my computer since it works fine on every other web site. However my connection gets very very slow when i'm on librarium online, to the point where i am waiting 5-10 minutes between each page.

I second that. It's been doing this to me for a few months, but it's been noticeably worse in the last few weeks.

It's gotten to the point where I'd rather post on other forums than wait for this one.

Common practice for posting on here has become:

1. click on a thread - go get a drink or play a video game while I wait for it to load,

2. read the thread - go paint another model between page loads.

3. reply - if possible, bring a book, this could take a while (currently reading: The Art of War)

Yes - It's good to see that I'm not the only one!! The site has gotten incredibly slow!

I wonder if the site is hitting bandwidth limits and the hosting ISP is squeezing the pipe?...

Does anybody know where this site is hosted? (as in country) It's always been obvious that it's pretty far away from the middle of the US. I've always been curious.

Aye, it's been grinding along badly for me, too. Even when it stops loading, sometimes I'm just left with a blank window.

The service is intermittent at best.

I do have to agree. I'm sure Blackhat and the admins will be looking into this.
I wonder if there has been a spike in LO activity recently. I remember this happening before, and when BH moved the server to a dedicated server it got even worse.
My best wishes to the admins and blackhat for this one. :)

I haven't had that much trouble until today. It had been a little buggy the last few days, but today's just been rotten. It drives me up the wall.

I often found it impossible to get on the forum itself (loading for hours just to "Page cannot be displayed". When I tried to go on chat and ask if anyone else was suffering, it would do the same thing after logging in.

I second this as it best fits my LO experience the past week or so. Before, there seemed to be a little slow down, now it just drags (with the occassional page that won't load).

LO Chat has also been crippled on occasion.

How am I supposed to tend my flock and laugh at Tenozuma being pink if I can't get in the room?

^___^

Good luck sorting it, if you need a hand, let us know.

I think perhaps the new Yahoo spider might cause this

Rork

Once in a while it seems a bit slow, but it's certainly running much smoother and faster than before.

DavidVC04

If it's a spider, is there anything to be done about it? Technological bug spray or something?

It's been grinding along quite badly over the last half an hour or more.

Time to uninstall some of the hidden gubbinz, eh?

I mentioned before that I was MIA for weeks because my Browser would no longer let me in to LO All I could get was the first page. ..that is, about one inch of it running down the side of my monitor, and it wasn't the side that you can log on with. I switched browsers and can now get here, but my computer actually goes to sleep while I'm logging on.
I was beginning to wonder if this was some undisclosed aspect of the Horus Heresy come to life. Or maybe the Deus Mechanicus is bipolar after all!

Even with my 6 megabyte connection, each page on LO more often than not takes several minutes to load even though I'm clean of viruses and spy ware and have full strength on my wireless and keep background programs to a minimum, Most strange....

got a 12mbs connection here and it takes ages for a page to load
IF it even loads. Mostly i have to try the same link 5 times before it would show any progress of actually showing the page :/

Yeah, I get a similar problem - often, it actually loads fast, but its an error page. The most annoying bit is when i'm posting and everything starts getting slow - I never know till much later if my post even made it through or not, there have been occasions where it has not.

Ah well. Still a great site!

Melbourne here, so Australia for me also! :) And I have a ludicrous connection speed. No idea what it actually is (posting from work).

Yeah its been going really really slow for me lately as well.. Other sites still open fast and fine at the same time.

Pages never load after I click to post a message I've typed either. They just stay blank and mozilla says loading. The posts are obviously working though.

Adelaide, Australia for me.

Meanwhile, back in Northern Ireland, all was going to hell in a handcart too with the no-show and blank pages, "put-the-kettle-on" speed of uploading and so forth. Even found me a Trojan, so wondered if it had had anything to do with things.

Sounds nasty to say this but I'm glad to know I haven't been the only muppet waiting patiently for something to come on screen only to be disappointed. It seems to be working reasonably ok today though.

I have to agree, LO has been incredibly slow these last couple of weeks, although of late it's been a bit better. I'm in the Western US.

Mine too, originally I thought it was just the connection at work but I'm getting the same problems at home. I'm in NE England.

I'm up in Canada, the website is becoming a bit faster, but its still a bit of a wait. I wonder if the insane heat (33C!!!!) and 90% humidity has something to do with it.....

I'm having same problems too but it seems to be later in the day.
I'm on the border of N.Ireland and Ireland, seems to be at its worst from 3pm - 8pm GMT (london, dublin)
If it helps it happens on XP, windows NT and 2000. on both firefox and internet explorer.
I reckon its the ISP and bandwidth allocation thats hosting the site

Earlier today the connection was terrible, but now it is great and I haven't had any problems since about 12:00 Central USA time. I'm not sure if it is because I'm using a different computer or anything, but LO is working terrific now, but I couldn't even connect this morning.

However I just came on (8:30 PST) and connection is perfect. My congratulations to whoever fixed it!

I have been having severe problems the last few weeks, I use Mozilla Firefox but have tried IE as well to see if it is the browser, but there was no difference.

When I cllick on the link the loading bar goes to half way and freezes for about 3 to 4 minutes and then a blank page is loaded and 'done' appears in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
If I do get to the main forum screen, no links to threads work.
If I go throught the LO home screen the 'forum' link just does the same thing (loading bar to halfway) but it just hangs indefinately.

This happens at random times, I am on LO all through the day at different times and there seems no ryhme or reason for it.

I would point out that all other web sites and forums work perfectly, so its obviously an LO specific problem.

This needs sorting tech dudes.

I've been using IE and FireFox from two different locations (Work and Home). At first I though I was having problems only during the afternoon, but last night I had to give up trying to post because I wanted to get other things done.

It has been really slow for me for months, I'm in the UK is that the issue? Every other site (warseer, dakka,BolterandChainsword) is fine. Sort it out guys it is a 50% chance of a page actually loading.

This is a great site "when" it is working, otherwise it is just a pain in the arse.

LO's been really slow for quite awhile. Other sites are completely fine.

I check up here very so often, but not nearly as much as I used to; There are faster alternatives elsewhere.

What I do when LO is going slow (which sadly is most of the time for me..in New England) is right click all of the sub forums I want to read and hit "Open In New Window" then they all load together and once they are loaded I do it again with any threads I may be interested in. This helps A LOT and I highly recommend this method.

As well as this, I'm having another equally frustrating problem. I need to reset my password on my other account and I've emailed tech support several times over the last few days asking for help, but with no response to date. Does anyone know if these sort of messages are getting through??

Only problem i am having is navigating a thread or posting, which take forever, other than that getting around on LO is fine.

eiglepulper
September 5th, 2007, 18:19
Yep, me too. Particularly dreadful today, to be honest. Click on subject, wait for that to load, answer it and click on "submit", then go put the kettle on for something to do until it posts the reply up.

Then we start again.

It appears that navigating to the different forums is not so bad. You just need your pillow with you when you're trying to be active in the threads! :)

If this could be fixed it would be truly great - posting on here is more of a chore than an pleasure at the moment, I'm afraid.
