View Full Version : Pictures of the Day Rabbit July 31st, 2007, 22:10 This thread, along with its counterpart in the Conversion Forum, will be looking at various images of Fantasy and 40K models. As the title suggests, a new image will be posted each day, focusing on the different options available to each army. Unfortunately, as a 40K player, the bulk of my images are of 40K models (sorry Fantasy players, I just don't have that many of the Fantasy game). Of course, everyone is welcome to add images of their own. With any luck, this should prompt a few Fantasy players *nudge...nudge* to fill the gap.
::: DISCLAIMER:::
None of these models were painted or converted by me. When available, the painter and/or converter will be given due credit, though most of the images in my database were saved without the proper reference to artist.
HERE IS AN INDEX OF ALL THE IMAGES FEATURED IN THIS THREAD (brought to you by the great Yak. Thanks buddy ;)):

I really like that model as well. I wish I had some images of it as a WIP in order to see the steps. At any rate, request granted: Tomorrow, I'll post some Nids. Anything in particular that you're looking for? You said big, so I'm thinking the monstrous creatures. Jon Quixote August 6th, 2007, 10:10 The top dread was painted by an Italian (?) on CMoN.
When I commented that I really liked it (and i do) but that the Leaves on the base really let the whole thing down, the guy went on a massive diatribe on me. How I've never posted anything on CMoN because I'm sh*t and i don't deserve to comment on his greatness.
The funny thing is that I even scored him 9/10, but apparently that wasn't good enough.
And then I saw him marking other great stuff below the 5/10 mark and saying that the models were poo when they patently weren't, flaming left and right. Apparently, he turn out to be a part of a clique that boosted their own scores and sniped others to advertise their studio by 'beating' the competition on CMoN.
He was the main reason I looked elsewhere and found myself on LO.
So thanks to him I've never looked back! :w00t:
I still stand by my comment though, great model let down by some thick paint on the leaves.
(On CMoN I said the base 'leaves' something to be desired! Oho hoh hoh.) BLADERUNNER August 6th, 2007, 10:47 All of them are quite good, I have seen a few before in person at games day. Personally the black templar whomping arse in combat against the necron.

I still think we should keep this thread going cause I have seen some interesting conversion work on here. Anybody with me for an LO member daily image? Rabbit August 6th, 2007, 15:03 The top dread was painted by an Italian (?) on CMoN.

I'm sorry to hear that. Admittedly, I get quite a number of these images of CMoN. It's the best mass quantity source for great looking models. Still, that doesn't excuse the actions of this painter. Oh, and I completely agree about the plants; they make the model look like something my grandmother would have in her living room :D.

Nothing would please me more. So far, no one has posted their own models, but I suspect that has to do with the fact that members can simply open their own threads and get specific comments regarding their own models. Of course, I'm happy to have members post images of their own stuff.

Oh, you don't want to know. I can't vouch for any one of these particular artists, but the following model took 100+ hours to complete (includes conversion and painting). It's along the same quality. I would imagine that at least a third of those 100 hours were invested in the conversion, so a basic (non-converted) space marine of the same general quality probably takes somewhere between 60-80 hours. Imagine doing an entire army like this!

Yeah, I know...not much armor. I couldn't figure out what to title the pics for the day. I was thinking about 'female priests' or 'female religious something or other.' In the end, I just opted for something simple, albeit, it's a little inaccurate. Thanks for foiling things :D. Warrior47 August 9th, 2007, 01:04 Awesome thread rabbit. That Daemon Prince(?) that nemy posted is amazing. I can't believe the freehand on it. It's just incredible. Not sure what else to say about it as I don't think words can describe how amazing the freehand on it is. apeironer August 9th, 2007, 02:34 Seeing these just makes me want to throw away all the models I have ever painted in disgust with myself for not being that awesome. Do you suppose this model was done with an airbrush or freehand? I suspect an airbrush, but lately I've seen some very impressive freehand that resembles airbrush work. minus_t August 10th, 2007, 19:54 *click me* (http://www.coolminiornot.com/102238)
The one on that titan. Very impressive I'm sure you will agree, but he should've stuck with the freehand...

It's a fine line (as Da Vinci said), between profanity and art. When I initially considered posting nude models in this thread, I contacted Kuffy. He replied, saying that it shouldn't be a problem. He suggested that I post some kind of warning beforehand. However, based off of Ikterus recent conversion thread (which contained an artfully crafted organ of the male anatomy), I don't think I can preface a thread with a 'Rated R' warning. Nemesis has already advised that this forum is meant to be PG-13, and having such a rating contradicts our rules.

If I can speak briefly on behalf of the mod team (which btw, are all excellent chaps and more than willing to help out- ego fluffing), I'm fairly confident that none of them see your work as anything but a product of creative ingenuity. More than anything, they just want to keep things on an even keel, in case we get a sensitive member who takes offense to such nude creations. I get the feeling that the mods don't have any personal issues with your work or that lovely nude female I posted today, but they've got their job to do, which entails keeping everyone happy on this forum.
Also, it's sometimes good to have controversial models posted in this forum. It helps in redefining the difference between pornography and artful nudes. Of course, there's always a gray area (art- go figure!). Rabbit August 19th, 2007, 08:05 I think for most painters of this caliber, it might actually be easier to paint these larger models. Jaffar_Hasad August 24th, 2007, 03:50 Sorry Rabbit but that is clearly a lowly IG man. It has the cadian shoulder pads, pants, chest armour, and canteen. At least his face looks tough. Well...I suppose he could be...only he is wearing IG flak armour and fatigues instead of carapace armour, and he has an IG canteen. And he's still bleeding - marines dont do that, not even scouts, seeing as the scouts still have the same genetically enhanced stuff that full marines have, without the training. Unless you're a space wolf, I guess! But that would be messing with artistic licence, so that last bit, about the bleeding, doesn't prove anything!
Meh! It still looks awesome either way, don't want you to feel I'm nit-picking. Points for you for posting all this stuff :) Rabbit August 24th, 2007, 05:02 Oh, alright. He's not a scout. I like this one. I think the look of the model as being something that gets in a fight from time to time is well conveyed. It also has a sense of movement about it even though it isn't doing a huge amount. The use of colour such as the blue and the snow helps to give the model's setting a temperature which is good to see, very good at bringing the thing to life. I have to say that these two are my favourites. The first one is interesting as it uses such bright colours. It reminds me of Flash Gordon and makes me fell all retro. I also had a school teacher when I was in my teens and she wore clothes like that all the time. Plus there is that little bloke looking at us in the corner.
The second one is good too. The pose and the movement of the cloth work well together. The shadows are also top-notch. Rabbit August 29th, 2007, 18:32 Pics of the Day: Little Girls-

Wouldn't that be something- a guard army comprised of little girls. Actually, it'd be down right haunting, especially if they stared up an the opponent with dreamy, innocent eyes.
Yak, that's not the one, but a great model. The one I'm thinking of has a little girl positioned to the far right side of the base. This is a great mini. He reminds of of Doc Holiday from Tombstone, with the glasses. It's the way he's looking at his watch that brings about the realism and depth. It leaves me wondering if he's late for something, or whether he's biding his time.

Hey I get half a rep for trying so :P theyak September 7th, 2007, 04:04 Well bunny, I do indeed know all the answers(edit: to this quiz), but I cheated, so I will refrain from harvesting your delicious rep. :) ShadowZora13 September 7th, 2007, 05:35 I'm gonna give this a try (thanks for the help on a few of them Shadow Nugz :))
1 The Emperor
2 going by the name on his shield inquisitor rorken?
3 custodian of some sort...
4 Regent of Terra, forget his name... leader of the custodians thugh
5 Sister of Silence? I remeber seeing something like this a while back...
6 Emperor Fighting Horus
7 Horus
8 Rogal Dorn? or a custodian...
9 Arhiman... I should have realized it wasn't magnus...the whole 2 eyes and everything...
I'll edit it if I get any others Rabbit September 7th, 2007, 07:39 All valiant efforts, but the cake still stands to be eaten. Andusciassus September 7th, 2007, 08:41 Ha, I know:)
All of them...but just like theyak I cheated, so I won't tell you. I didn't even know that which the female model belongs to existed. So this have been quite an insight, cheers Rabbit.
And as always fantastic models. This makes me think I should spend more time on the InterNet looking for fantastic models than I already do.. wonder what my RL would say about that:?
Maybe not...
I'd have to squeeze in an extra couple of hours each day and night then and Chronos is such a conservative diety... theyak September 7th, 2007, 08:53 First:My friend, what's an RL?
and second: You cheater cheaty cheat pants! ;)
Thrid: just stop time and browse. Andusciassus September 7th, 2007, 09:01 First: RL? It's that horrible place where real people live and do like real things. Where all my commitments have a true influence on my everyday life...it's Real Life *shivers*
It's a bit like...InterNet with neither Google nor Wiki, a complete mess I tell you. Beware brother. Here be Dragons.
Second: Pants? Me, ha! I don't hav...ehh...;o GAAAHHHHH!!!
Third:I've tried that, but due to Chronos being such a conservative, I can only stop my personal time while browsing, teh rest of the world seems ignorant of my powers and just keeps on doing things... Guess I'll have to practice. Jon Quixote September 7th, 2007, 09:30 http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d117/snuggletoad/40K%20Images%20for%20Online/JanetiaKroleCommanderofSisterofS-1.jpg
Is based on the female inquisitor.

Head swap, weapon swap, sculpted loin cloth thing, sculpted cloak, and gem over the inquisitor symbol.
I cheated too, but entirely by accident. I won't tell you how until the answer comes up. minus_t September 7th, 2007, 09:54 OK, here is my rough guess:
1. The Emperor
2. Inquisitor Lord Rorken (who is, I believe a Grand Master of the Ordo Xenos)
3. This guy looks like a Custodes Champion, maybe the Master of the Custodes? Don't know if he has a name...
4. Looks like another Custodes.
5. A Sister of Silence. Probably the leader of them, but I don't know if she has a name.
6. The Emperor vs. Horus
7. Horus
8. I'd guess that this is another Custodes Champion. Maybe another Master?
9. Ahriman of the Thousand Sons, before the Rubic.

PS. Mostly awesome models, though generally a tad bling IMO... Stormchaser September 7th, 2007, 14:16 http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d117/snuggletoad/40K%20Images%20for%20Online/Horus1.jpg
