View Full Version : Editors, Webmasters Etc.. Blackhat March 29th, 2004, 12:39 I have been talking on the chat about expanding Librarium Online so we can cover more games etc, like RPGs, fanfiction/books, pc games, consolle games, handheld devices, CCG, tabletop and maybe music and movies too..
We will open more portals on the site with own domain names, in this case we will be needing editors and webmasters that would like to run one of these portals. You should manage to write and update regularly and should also have knowledge of the category you wanna support!
Please post here if you have the time and a wish to become a webmaster of one of these groups.
The forums will be the same. In other words, one large forum with only one signup necessary.
We will be moving into new servers next month so the bandwidht wont be a problem anymore :) Toastee March 29th, 2004, 12:56 I can understand CCG, Roleplaying, tabletop gaming and maybe PC and console games.
but music and movies? Doesn't that slightly move away from what we are, which correct me if Im wrong, is a wargaming forum?
As for webby places....I may be interested in the RPG, tabletop gaming one, or the the PC gaming one.
However I'd need to know the amount of work that would need to go into keeping a busy PHP site up.
Toastee Blackhat March 29th, 2004, 13:15 well, maybe not music and movies, but at least the other part :) Phobos March 29th, 2004, 13:15 If there's going to be one, I could probably handle GW specialist games or fan fiction.. Vindkall March 29th, 2004, 13:20 I am intrested in a webmaster/editor part of the pc and console games part.
I guess I got to fight Toastee for it *grins* Blackhat March 29th, 2004, 14:02 you can also share positions, that would make it easier for both of you. As webmaster you will also need to promote the site, like signing up on toplists etc :)
Paid advertising is taken care of by me if were going to use that :) Gray Wolf March 29th, 2004, 16:31 Glad to here you're getting more bandwidth. This is one of my first stops on the internet, so I'm happy I won't be getting that bandwidth execeeded junk.
cheers, Blackhat March 29th, 2004, 16:50 Originally posted by Toastee@Mar 29 2004, 13:56

Its hard to say, but cover the latest news from the category chosen should be enough. There will be more than one on each som they might help each other out a bit by writing small articles/news postings on the frontpage.. chemicalcaveman March 29th, 2004, 18:10 While i am not putting myself forward for any of the jobs. I just want to say cheers to all the mods and admins for always looking to the future and trying to make this site more enjoyable to the considerable amount of people who have joined. What i am trying to say is good idea and well done. Keep up the good work. Zirellion March 29th, 2004, 18:13 I could take the task of the RPG forum seeing as i play nearly all those games except for Star trek. or WHFB.
EDIT: What would it mean to be a webmaster? A mod? sinister_bunny March 30th, 2004, 00:47 I think I would make a good web master for the ccg forum as I have played ccgs since I was 8 and have played many diffrent ccgs ranging from basbale to LotR. Also I could do the video game forum also as I have some knowadge in that area too. Edicius March 30th, 2004, 01:27 ooh..expansion..I'll help..dunno how i can..but I'm willing to try..maybe I'm just tired of being useless eadipus March 30th, 2004, 01:32 i'd be up for doing the books thing, i read a lot of fantasy/sci-fi and it would be nice to actually put all my useless knowledge to use
i work in a mobile (cell) phone shop so i've got a lot of experience with those but i really get enough of it at work (it probably breaches some obscure part of my companies regulations too, most things do) K-Tana March 30th, 2004, 16:40 If you're adding so many new forums, might it be wise to designate a few "sub-mods" to help police the greater expanse of posts. Sub-mods could just keep an eye on one or two specific boards while full mods could look over a larger area and respond when a sub-mod reports a problem. Of course, a sub-mod would need less privilages than a full-mod, but it could help keep idots at bay. Space Cow March 30th, 2004, 17:29 May I Moderate the Online Rpg Forum?
I am on it almost all the time and I sent you a PM of why I should be there ect. . . Blackhat March 30th, 2004, 22:17 Forget the moderate stuff, I'm talking about the administrative work on the portals, by adding news etc.. The webmasters of these portals will have the privilege of adding moderators to their portals boards.. Uniruler March 30th, 2004, 23:49 :D I volunteer to help in any way I can K-Tana March 31st, 2004, 11:13 By portals, do you mean a series of sub-sites that each handle a different theme that LO currently controls now? ie A seperate Computer Game site, and a seperate CCG site, each with its own administartion and moderation staff?
Oh, BTW, I'll help in any way you need me to. Blackhat March 31st, 2004, 11:59 Originally posted by K-Tana@Mar 31 2004, 12:13

Yes :) Zirellion March 31st, 2004, 13:17 Then i indeed want to have the WHFB forum or online RPG...seeing as i know some usefull junk 'bout it. Vindkall April 1st, 2004, 01:16 As some of you have noticed the Gaming portal are now up, even that we are still working on somethings to add to it you can now get PC and Console game news here.
Which brings us to the little problem, as you all know the gaming industry is really big, which means that they generate alot of news and I got to admit that it's hard to keep up with them. So I am looking after some or someone that can help out with the workload. The work is basicly looking up game news and add them to the frontpage, also archiving the old one as you add more news.
Another thing is a LO clan to promote the new portal. At the moment I am thinking of UT2k4, but we could end up with more games, as I am trying to find something that could host a clanserver and the only thing I have checked so far is jolt and their lite clanserver supports up to 5 games it would be quite stupid not to use it.
I forgot to add that you should PM me if you are intrested, dont forget your E-mail addy Brother Bob April 1st, 2004, 01:19 I'll help out if you want.
And as said previously, I'm also willing to work on the Star Trek and Star Wars ones. XV-88 April 1st, 2004, 02:32 I doubt I could Admin my own site, but if LO is breaking into CCG, RPG, WHFB sections and etc., could I stay and be helpful on the 40K site? I happen to know a lot of fluff, especially about Space Marines, and don't paint too horribly (Trying to be modest). So, if the big split every happens, gimme a ring. ElGrun April 1st, 2004, 02:53 I wanna be the anime guy... :D Edicius April 1st, 2004, 03:29 Hmm..game news eh? I can help with that..I'm really good at finding game news..it's basicly my life..i have freinds that work @ game magazines that e-mail me anything theat doesn't break thier little magazine rules or whatever so i get to hear all kinds of cool useless information about games Brother Bob April 1st, 2004, 03:34 Originally posted by XV-88@Apr 1 2004, 01:32

It's not really a split.. it's an expansion. Each section will have their own little portal for news on the subject. Jozef April 1st, 2004, 12:05 First: I think it's great that more games (from different producers) will get some attention on this site.
But I got some remarks:
1st: I-Kore is not a game but a game compagny wich publishes Void and Celtos wich are games on their own.
2nd: I miss a lot of games, like DBA, DBM, HOTT, AD&D Battlesystem, and I don't know how or were to start topics about them.
3rd: The text-screen seems to be much wider, now I have to scroll left and right to read all of text (maybe this is my computers fault).
Jozef Uniruler April 1st, 2004, 12:46 I could be the mod/administrator for the Magic Cards forum. It's my second hobby after 40k. I frequently go to wizards.com and more than half of the people that comes to games night on friday play magic as well as 40k. So yeah :D Vindkall April 1st, 2004, 12:58 As a last time saying this, you wont get to mod a specific forum, what you do get to do is to add up news, plan a little what your the portal will contain, add articles and etc.
Also, I don't think that there will be a specific MTG/Star Wars/Star Trek portal, as these are more likley to be under the CCG and RPG portals.
Tho as these will cover many games I recomend that you are some guys that takes care of these parts and divide up the workload. Elandili April 3rd, 2004, 00:01 I can do RPG. Nemy April 3rd, 2004, 00:15 Just a tiny though Blackhat, but since there is a good amount of anime fans on LO, you could add an anime section. But it is only a tiny suggestion. If it happens I cvould be a mod for it, I seen alot of weird anime stuff and also own alot of crazy stuff. Like Burn-Up X..
*shouldn't have drink alot of coke today..* Blackhat April 3rd, 2004, 00:17 I will consider it :) NightFox April 3rd, 2004, 10:31 I'm probably too late here, but anyway... I could help in the videogame section, especially gamecube and GBA. Also books, as I am an avid reader. Blackhat April 3rd, 2004, 10:50 Originally posted by shas'o hamster@Apr 3 2004, 11:31

Ask Pulan or Toastee about that section Sunflash April 5th, 2004, 03:12 Will there be any kind of computer programing involved? Will it be mostly adding news keeping track of stuff and what not?
So really these administrators would just be super moderators.
If no computer programing is invloved I would be happy to work in/under the 40k forum. Vindkall April 5th, 2004, 04:33 Sunflash Posted on Apr 5 2004, 02:12

1) Maybe if we add a mod area there will be some programing, tho mainly c++/java as that are the only ones I've ever seen used in a mod.
A mod area would also cover the 3d graphics part (3dsmax, maya, lightwawe etc), sounds (dunno what peeps uses for that) textures (photoshop etc.)
2) Dunno about that mod thing, I don't have any yet.

I can help with this for the early editions. I used to be quite into that, but now with the new rules and card design and such, I've kinda been out of it. NightFox April 6th, 2004, 20:45 with regards to programming, I'm hopeless and can't do a thing. ho hum. SlimeyUK April 6th, 2004, 22:29 I'm a php mysql programmer so could do some simple programming stuff.
Actually i could do some complicated stuff, but i'm not going to.
Not for free anyway!! :D NightFox April 15th, 2004, 19:34 when will new mods be allocated to the new forums, or is that the GM's responsibility? Vindkall April 16th, 2004, 21:24 NightFox Posted on Apr 15 2004, 18:34
when will new mods be allocated to the new forums, or is that the GM's responsibility?
I got to say that as it looks now there shouldn't be a direct need of new mods.
But who knows, in the future some forums might need new mods. | |
