Does anyone know of any hidden or uncommon rules that can be used to swing games in your favour?
One example was a game the other night where I couldn't give chase because I didn't have a model in base contact at the end of a combat.
Another is shooting over or past vehicles using line of sight. I've played plenty of games where people have hidden things behind tanks to stop me shooting them. However - page 20 BGB, you can shoot over or through over vehicles. They do not automatically count as level 3 "to the sky".
You guys got any other rules?

Uhm, about tanks, they block line of sight, but if the model shooting is larger and/or on a higher level then he could possibly se a unit that hides behind it.
And there are no 'hidden' rules. If you have read the rulebook then you know all the rules except army specific.

Except the Chuck Norris clause...... *shifty eyes*

Generally, its more just knowing about the rulebook and what it entails. Everyone has their own particular area of expertise...wait a second...
HIDDEN rules?! Secret knowledge?
What vile worship of Tzeentch have you fallen to!?

And, don't forget that you can shoot over/through combat to a target a size larger than the largest model in the combat. For example if all of the guys fighting in the combat are infantry(no monsterous creatures/no dreads) then you can shoot over it to get at vehicles, monsterous creatures, guys on lv 2 or above terrain.
So can vehicles SCREENED by combat shoot over it with the same exceptions.

Dunno how to quantify when a rule counts as 'hidden.' Range sniping and LOS sniping are probably the most common 'tactical' applications of rules. Every army will have quirks caused by odd rules. For example a tyranid army that can create a moving wall to shelter genestealers due to the 'MCs and Walkers occupy the area of their base' FAQ.
My two favorites as a Witch Hunter are steering flamers and the totally legal but rarely expected 'squad walks 6" to rhino, rhino drives 12", squad shoots out top hatch.'

I think the qualification for "hiddin" in this case are exceptions to general rules.
Like above: you cannot shoot through CC, UNLESS XXX..
Vehicles block LOS UNLESS they are skimmers... etc etc.

Ah, well:
A special weapon or character cannot be killed out of a squad UNLESS he's the only model left in range or in line of sight.
A flamer template cannot be used to inflict casualties on a second squad without covering as much of the target as possible UNLESS you cleverly stand your own trooper in front of the flamer.
A model cannot travel 12+ to 20" and still shoot its gun UNLESS it happens to walk up to a transport that hasn't moved yet which then drives away with the model on board.
There we go.
