http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.us?do=List_Models&code=306043&orignav=301083&ParentID=1254557&GameNav=10 Lost Nemesis December 17th, 2007, 05:36 Saw that a couple weeks ago...
Yes, they're serious. :) A reasonable buy, if you want to dish out the cash. Cyric the Mad December 17th, 2007, 05:38 Not a "boxed" set per se, but I catch your meaning (example, I ordered an Aspect Warrior Assault Wave and got all of the components in their individual boxes and blisters - didn't come with a special box, unfortunately).
If you're a hardcore collector or very rich it's not a bad deal - saves you about $300-$400 overall, but I wouldn't shell out that kind of money for it. As cool as it would be to field the entire 1st company as an Apoc army, it seems very excessive. Warrior47 December 17th, 2007, 06:13 Well, if you think about it, offering a army deal like that really doesn't cost them any money unless someone buys it and even with the deal you get, that's like what, 103 terminators and 5 tanks they just sold if someone buys it. That's far more than anyone would normally buy, so they make plenty of money and if no one buys it, what did they lose, the 2 minutes it took for the guy to put it on the site? I think that makes a pretty elite strike force :rofl
That bing said, I don't know who on earth would buy such as massive thing. I understood the marine company, but this is just ridiculous. magila December 17th, 2007, 10:03 Go nuts on the wallet. CBrate December 17th, 2007, 10:38 Deathwing army in a box. Just add glue. Nachtjager December 17th, 2007, 11:12 lol, 3 of these and I can make my "300" spartan Terminator army, only $3300... BARGAIN! Tekore December 17th, 2007, 14:14 Wow, just wow. If only I could win the lottery.
Tekore Zemaphore December 17th, 2007, 14:42 Holy crap, 1100$!
That's more a forgeworld price than GW. Mh, makes me realize how much this hobby costs overall... i spend a small fortune over the few years i've been doing this. Boomer December 17th, 2007, 15:45 If G.W did a space marine list with the ability to use terminator armour
as a HQ, elite & troop & heavy support choices then great I would consider it.
But then again for that money I can have 27 carnifex’s. Nachtjager December 17th, 2007, 16:43 I was about to say "but where would you use 27 carnifexes?!" before I thought to myself that I was talking about 100+ terminators and additional dross.
;) Boomer December 17th, 2007, 16:52 I think the really question is what is more scary?
100 terminators or 27 carnifexs? SmokWawelski December 17th, 2007, 17:18 Hmmmm - how about both in the same army?!?
;? ian smith December 17th, 2007, 18:09 27 carnifexes and no synapse...hmmmm....instictive behavior rolls, no aromor penetration, and can't move more than six a turn...hmmmm.....not hard for me to choose.
100 termies and land raiders!! The Fifth Horseman December 17th, 2007, 18:26 ;? ZOMG.
That bing said, I don't know who on earth would buy such as massive thing. I understood the marine company, but this is just ridiculous.
Every monster has its' lover. I'm sure someone would, but that someone would have to be both insanely rich and barking mad at the same time. And a Warhammer hobbyist, too. Somehow, however, I think we do have both rich and mad hobbyists here, though. :D Zemaphore December 18th, 2007, 13:24 ;? ZOMG.

When they're rich, they're not crazy: they are excentrique :P
I for one am poor, so crazy, but not crazy enough to spend that much! BrotherAzriel December 18th, 2007, 14:30 if i had it, i would.
if i ever win the lottery or somthing, il but that box. or..well... crate. Lurch December 18th, 2007, 14:54 I haven't played 40k for ages but have a massive dark angel army. That is seriously cool but when the hell would you ever deploy 100 terminators and 5 land raiders? You would have to buy them their own house to live in :D frozencore December 18th, 2007, 22:09 I think a fair number of them would be deep striking. 50 deep striking terminators could be a big problem. Though there is an abundance of blast templates in apocalypse....I am going to have think it over. Koss December 18th, 2007, 22:18 OMG i'm buying 3...
just kidding Inquisitor Blackadder December 18th, 2007, 23:20 I haven't played 40k for ages but have a massive dark angel army. That is seriously cool but when the hell would you ever deploy 100 terminators and 5 land raiders? You would have to buy them their own house to live in :D
Or you could build a strike cruiser for when they deep strike*plonks massive model of strike cruiser on table, 'does this count as a flyer? oh..you don't want to know about weapon stats...'*;)you know it makes sense. zenith_tau December 19th, 2007, 13:38 You're not saving that much. You're basically getting the vehicles and chaplan for free. I bought a book from GW last week, and they're like, "whoa, you're not in our system?"
I responded, "yeah, I've never bought anything at a GW before. I usually get it from a non-gw dealer or ebay. It's cheaper." DavidVC04 December 19th, 2007, 14:08 I would love to know how many of these they've sold. Aubec December 19th, 2007, 15:16 I keep thinking about this box set ! I dont even play marines , let alone Deathwing. Evidently the GW brainwashing and deep hypnotic conditioning has worked on me. | |
