Generals of the above armies, please post your tactics for the battle as soon as you are able! Phoenix January 3rd, 2008, 16:49 Ok so onto game 3. And first things first, the Monolith will be DeepStriking this time.
This should give me enough time to get rid of the heavy weaponry which will be a threat to the Lith. The Destroyers, Immortals and Heavy Destroyers specifically (supported by the warriors) will be bearing their fire upon the Havocs and Obliterators. Enough of them should be destroyed by the time the lith gets into play. Oblits will be the main target, and if all he Havocs arent dealt with when the Lith arrives then ill send the Scarabs into combat there to stop the shooting.
With that problem dealt with, the rest should be pretty simple. Lith and Veil to keep units out of combat. The Gauss Flux Arc should be able to o quite a bit of damage over a decent area, as will the continued fire from the other guns on the field. Especially the warriors once they get within Rapid Fire range.
The Deceiver has a couple of nice targets to aim for, the Deamon Prince primarily, and then the Sorceror and Termies. Also his ability to jump out of combat in the enemies turn should come in pretty handy, as f one thing is almost dead, I can have him move 2D6 elswewhere while the guns clean up.
Also note after the initail turns, the Raptors and Termies will be priority targets, for guns. Also the Flayed ones will be aiming for the raptors to stop them running riot.
And all i have left to say, is Game On! hotspike18 January 3rd, 2008, 18:16 Whew, I was afraid this would happen. I'm going to be honest, I have little to no experience fighting Necrons, and I imagine this is going to pretty much guarantee a loss, but I'll try my best to go on what I know already. Game on indeed Deciever. ;Y
Because of my little experience I am going to be aiming for a Phase Out as soon as I possibly can. The Chosen will deploy (normally) forward most inside the forest area on my side of the board. The havocs will deploy behind them, to force priority checks at the least. To the left an right, still in cover, I will place my two troop squads. The Obliterators will Deep Strike. The Raptors will also take cover in the forest waiting for a good moment to jump out and do their thing - Same as the Daemon Prince.
My primary goal is to make sure they I can deny as many WBB rolls as I can. This will stem from wiping out the Lord as soon as I can as well as using Lash of Submission to drag units within rapid fire and/or assault range to isolate them from both the Lord's Orb and a similar unit. The Lash (regrettably) is key to me for this battle, as it's going to usually allow me to drag units away where I can force quite a few plasma shots and then heavy assaults with Raptors and the Daemon Prince. The havocs will concentrate primarily on the regular destroyers where possible, if not, then the Heavy ones or just the warriors.
If the Deciever becomes a major problem, I can have the Daemon Prince or Sorcerer try to take him down. Though I'd probably use the Daemon Prince. I would use the sorcerer but he doesn't have Warptime, and I imagine a creature like that has at least T5, which means if he botches the rolls he's not coming home. Also, the Daemon Prince's increased Invulnerable save should help a lot here.
The Obliterators will Deep Strike behind the Necron lines and use their Combi-Plasma to take out as many Necrons as they can. Most likely, they will try to rapid fire against the regular Destroyers.
As soon as I can, the Lord will be targeted in assault primarily, the Daemon Prince and Raptors both will likely jump in to make sure the Lord doesn't cause any more problems.
All in all, I'm just trying to take out as many Necrons as I can to force a good ol' Phase Out. I am hoping, that with the Lash of Submission, lots of Plasma, and mobile assault units (as well as the Oblits DS'ing) I will be able to hold on long enough force Scotty to beam all those rusty robots back to the Entreprise.
And now I leave it in your hands LO users... :0 Phoenix January 4th, 2008, 00:08 If the Deciever becomes a major problem, I can have the Daemon Prince or Sorcerer try to take him down. Heheheh... Im sorry to have to inform you that the Deceiver is infact T8, S10, with 5 wounds, and a 4+ Inv. Also his attacks deny all saves, including Invulnerables.
Actually, i lie... im not sorry :P
Apart from that, i have no more comments. Let the voting begin! destp January 4th, 2008, 05:53 Deceiver seems to have a solid plan and I'm not sure Hotspike has the shooting ability to do enough damage quickly enough. I see it being close, but I think the Necrons will manage to avoid phase out scatter the marines. darkreever January 4th, 2008, 06:19 Sorry hotspike18, but Deceiver really has you by the throat here; especially when it comes to his having the Deceiver. With a toughness and wound count like that your either going to need to ignore him in favour of wiping out the heavy destroyers, normal destroyers, immortals, and warriors or else you'll be needing to focus everything on that one model. Heavy weapon fire looks like it will be spread to thin to take on to many targets to achieve a phase out victory and you may not have the time to take on parts of the necron force. (Though all eight destroyers would definitely be amongst the first targets to take out.) psichotykwyrm January 4th, 2008, 06:34 Deceiver's sound tactical combination of the Lith, Veil Lord, and the Deceiver will grant him great control of the battlefield. Hotspike is going in the right direction with the Lash, and having the havocs target the Destroyers, not to mention he has the advantage of having no vehicles. Just don't think it will be enough though... frozencore January 4th, 2008, 07:22 I am going to have to go with Deceiver on this one. Ironangel256 January 4th, 2008, 08:45 I would really like to vote in favor of hotspike here as he does have a crazy amount of plasma and power weapons in his list but Deci has that C'tan and the lith... let's say I'm fenced for now. danjones87 January 4th, 2008, 14:38 Deceiver, with a ctan his list should be broken! i hate that fellow.
Dan Phoenix January 4th, 2008, 17:04 Lol, love that comment. Broken how?? though PM me with a response, save taking this off topic. Ironangel256 January 7th, 2008, 12:27 MATCH CLOSED! | |
