Point for point, I would have to say the Paladin is one of the best hero level characters in the game. He's pretty damn cheap, and you get a hero who packs a punch in close combat with good speed and armor, and slightly above average stats. What more could you want?

I think i have to agree with you there Spec. For around 80pts you get an impressive statline from a lance wielding mounted hero. Not bad at all. He makes a nice cheap leader, especially in small forces where, given the cost of Knights, you really need as many points available for troops as possible.
