Wahey! Cheers for linking these Jared.

The more I see of the corpse cart the more I like it, although I'll definately be leaving off the zombie attatched to the rider's (whatever he may be?) spear, that just looks all kinds of rediculous. I'll probably end up converting mine to be pulled by zombified ogres, the plain zombies just don't look like quite enough to yank that thing along.

The grave guard look like they'll have a definate visual impact now, they look actively worrying, more like I saw them in my head anyway. Still miffed ghouls will be ranked, but at least we have decent models for them niow, the same for the dire wolves, they actually look thoughrouly undead now.

Looking very good, i especially like the ghouls, the really turned that model around, look at the dynamics on that model! The bloodknights look really scary too!

Yea I have seen them before. I think it is an interesting road GW seems to take with the VC. They are VERY dark and much less humorous! The Varghulf is a bit weird but it might grow on me when I get one! I do like the Grave Guards VERY MUCH and same goes for Konrad. The corpse cart is nauseating but might fit in with this new image of VC, so should the dire wolves but I don’t like them! They seem to be odd and very difficult to paint.

Ghouls are looking wonderful, but the unit seems a bit useless under the new rules as they are said to be rank-n-file. Dunno about the skeletons; they look good, but will be in boxes of 10. Then again, it doesn’t seem we can make new (or boost current) units of skeletons anymore so we won’t need as many.

Blood knights are weird… and very expensive. It is possible to account for the price with logic, but still it is a big bag of money for 5 cavalry models…

Can’t wait to see the battalion, even though I might buy the spearhead and get stuff early (want the new models anyway).

Any Idea on what the pricings gonna be like? I was assuming Grail Knight kinda pricing? Hadn't heard skellies were gonna be 10 per box, thats a real pain in the rump, hope the pricing doesn't work out as more than the existing ones as a result, if not however nice they are as I plan on having 2 blocks of 30-40 in my 2k army I may stick to the old ones to save on cash, I really hope they don't as these models are an improvement, but I can ill afford another £20 just to get the updated models in the quantitys I'll need em, thats a boxed set worth of troops, I'm not having that.

Hope this brought some joy...

At current exchange rates that'd make the knights of the blood keep £50 for 5, or over $100, and £15 for 10 plastic skeletons, or $30 depending on your side of the pond. That can't be right.

It is just me who dislikes the vampires? I mean currently the Von Carsteins have been completely against everything that has been written about them. No way do any of these look noble, handsome and alluring. I mean, bat ears and bald? Oooo, yes please! Bah. I just wish they did better minis of them, these suck. I cannot believe how bad Mannfred actually looks. :X Good thing I have brought the current version.

However, the skeletons look good. Not too sure on the rest, will have to see. I just really dislike the vampires I haver seen thus far. bah.

That corpse cart looks super-wicked (poor zombies) the vampirs/bat guy too! And with the skeletons couldnt you just buy one box and use them as the first rank.

Yes, they are very Nosferatu-esque. While it was an interesting movie, it probably isn't the best inspiration to base "handsome" vampires after. I will continue to use my old vampire count models. I really don't like the vampire with one wing. What purpose does it serve? Can he only half fly? It doesn't even look like a wing from any animal in existence, much less a bat.

I agree with you to a point. Vampires have a beastial form in which they like to fight in...a handsome vampire would not be nearly as intimidating as some freakishly messed up one.:P

January 7th, 2008, 23:19
Also I would love to see some elven vampire special characters!!! that would be totally awsome -thinks of Buff dark elf- *drools*

I love the ghoul models/corpse cart. The vampire with one bat arm has alot of potential, love the pose of the model but dissagree with the bat arm, if it dosnt grow on me a conversion is in hand. Personally i have found the KOBK quite strange, being to "chaos Warriorish." I know their stats are supposto reflect this but it just looks too bulky.

cebwj
January 7th, 2008, 23:37
I disagree with that. I recon it would be far more intimidating to fight a handsome pale man who’s aura just glows of death, moving faster than an elf but as strong as a dragon. This “man” stands among howling creatures of the night and they all bow to his will. Some freakish strigoi-look alike is not really standing out from a Varghulf or some zombie ogre/golem.
Then again I am very much into the non-monster vampires!

I don’t like the wing-vampire myself but I understand why some fancy him

Can’t wait for the release no matter what the vampires look like, it is always possible to use old or convert using human bits and stuff… Then again I love Konrad! He will make his way into my list, just for the model (not to mention the fluff! Manfred just for the fluff (bless GW for having made a good model for him already).

All this being said, I think I’ll get the new vampire models regardless. The skeletons however will be pretty expensive in the new 10-pack but equally impressive!

EDIT: My little add-on.

I like most of what I've seen (especially el one wingo), and I'm a HUGE fan of Manfred and the female vampire.

But I have a few niggling issues.

Konrad:

It might just be me, but he looks like he was just pulled from 300/pro wrestling, given a suit of armour that draws attention to his arms (by leaving them vulnerable to anyone with a sword, enough skill to hit him, and a brain) and put in an incredibly boring pose.
... And his horse looks like it's laughing.

The ghouls:
They don't really look like men anymore. More like Gollum after someone decided to try to pull his spine out of his back and stick an array of bones in his chest, arms and legs. Considering ghouls were really just degenerates who have been living on human flesh, I don't really feel this new look suits.
... And all their poses are samey. For a rag-tag bunch of apparent human degenerates, they seem very good at all striking the same pose. Though I guess the same can be said for almost every plastic model games workshop produces nowadays.

Still like them, just not how I really envisage ghouls.

Dire wolves:

What's wrong with their heads? Do they really need to be so big? I mean really... Those gargantuan gnashers mounted on their little beef jerky bodies just looks a little off. Of course, that could be a perspective issue.
Heads aside (well, head size aside), I like them a lot.

Blood knights:

Just one offender here. The one with the trumpet seems to be playing it for the horse on his right (our left, as the viewer). That just looks odd...

I must say, for the most part I'm very impressed.

Those Dire Wolves are really starting to look creepy as opposed to the mildly comical ones we have at the moment. I can see myself getting some of them, maybe not entirely replacing my current wolves, but there will definitely be some new wolves in there, that's for sure.

The Skeletons and Grave Guard are looking more awesome every time I see them. I'll definitely be getting some of those Grave Guard. Have to find out what they're doing with the Skeletons but I think I do need some more of them somewhere along the line.

I still can't see myself using Ghouls or the Corpse Cart, but that's just personal preference. The models still look good, they just don't do it for me. Might have to relent when the rules come out though, we'll see.

The Vampires, up until now, have been a bit of a disappointment. I just haven't liked them.

And then I see that Vampirfurst. ;?

If they're going to do more that are as awesome as him, I might be getting myself a new vampire as well!

It's like Christmas is coming all over again!

And maybe I'll throw my hat into the 'bestial versus handsome' point that was raised earlier. I almost think it would be better to fight the beast vampire. Sure, you'd be wetting your pants, but it would perhaps be easier to deal with a beast's logic.

On the other hand, when you're dealing with a intelligent, handsome fellow who is every bit as powerful as the afore-mentioned beast, I think you have a little more to worry about. This vampire could just charge at you and rip you to pieces, but maybe he's not going to; just how many other ways is he plotting your demise?

Of course, that's assuming the Vampire's mind doesn't carry over when they transform into beast form. I don't know, I think facing either beast or human form would be too much for most people.

The time to frighten the pants off the Old World has come once more!

I bet you will be buying wolves… Comes in a box (and they are plastic!) 20 euros for 10 models! Very nice I say…

I can’t get over the 70euros price tag on the KotBK, almost a battalion!
Anyway I DEMAND to know what is in the battalion… Hear me GW? DEMAND!
NOW!

-Will check back tomorrow…

PS: Everyone should get grave guards! They are only 22.5euro for 10 models! Compared to the new 10-man box set for skeletons the GG are wonderful and almost the same price!

Well thats a bit odd, why would the vampire become stupid just for using a more Buff and menacing form? correct me if im wrong but if a vampire turns into a bat, he isnt going to go and urinate on him self upside down...:?

grave gaurd look interesting, not a fan of the helmets but they look 100000000x better than the old ones, im realy interested with the leaders for the new release and the corpse cart, ghouls and dire wolves8Y

!!! i see your point! how very true, i have had an image like that in my mind, this vampire strides into an encapment of the Order of the Sacred Scythe, challenges the grand master and gets owned, the brother of that vampire seeks vengenace, screams horribly loud, tones of zombies/skellies burst out of ground and push the entire encapment aside -leaving a pocket in the centre- where the vampire strides up to the grand master in dead silence....:)my themed character

After looking at all the new modals i am liking what i'm seeing vampires are meh the now till see anymore. Does anyone know what will be in the battlion box? i think it will be something like box of zombies, box or 2 of skellies and box of dire wolves and mayby a box of ghouls.

Fair 'nuf... Just taking from the euro-priced french site where they accually have got the prices uploaded to the public! I concur in the wanting of more info on the battalion (as one may have picked up from my post last night)

Anyway I will post the link to the prices again, as many seems confused about the prices:

Just scroll down a bit untill you get to 8th of march (called mars for people who can't deduct a letter themselves... Common sense isn't so common!)

Quite honestly I don't think the vampire becomes more beast-like in there mentality when they look it, but I still belive the handsome man/woman with a desturbing aura is really standing out among his underlings -Invoking much more fear...

Vlad

Mannfred on horse, his legs look stupid on foot, as does his pose, still like it though.

I can't say I like most of the models. Vhargulf is interesting, the Grave Guard are nice, and Konrad looks awesome, but the rest of the models look a bit over the top, and I have a feeling that if you're playing in a decently lit room your army will look more funny than spooky.

Jared van Kell
January 17th, 2008, 21:17
I guess it all depends on the paint job to be honest. Vlad von Carstein looks pretty cool in the black and gold armour and the Knights of the Blood Keep look pretty decent themselves. :)
