View Full Version : Another "how's my army?" question starman907 February 15th, 2008, 04:50 im sure this has been done many many times before but oh well, here it goes.
I've been seriously been considering getting into this, i know a couple other people who play and i decided that if i ever do get into it i'm going to play the Protectorate and well, this is what i've come up with for a 500 pointer
Grand Scrutator Severius (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Severius)
Devout (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Devout)
Redeemer (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Redeemer) or High paladian Vilmon and 2 Paladains of the order of the wall
Revenger
Knight Exemplar Seneschal (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Seneschal)
Knights Exemplar (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Exemplar)
Choir of Menoth (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Choir) x2
Monolith Bearer (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Monolith)
Holy Zealots (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Zealots)
Wrack (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Wrack)
Tell me what you think/what i should improve on/ how annoyed you are with these topics, i don't really care, i'll take whatever you got to give me. Solo February 15th, 2008, 05:11 Welcome to LO mate! Enjoy your stay and be sure to go down to the intro's forum and make yourself known to the local constabulary! ;)
Now, on to your question, unfortunately i can't help you as I have only just started playing Warmachine myself, and have only just got a 500point Cygnar list going. Looking at your list, you have about twice as many models as I have in mine! :0
I'm sure one of the nice warmachine players around here can help you though... starman907 February 15th, 2008, 05:21 Thanks for the reply and the welcome if you didn't click on any of the links
BattleCollege » home (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/)
that has a lot of very useful info on warmachines. Solo February 15th, 2008, 07:45 Funny enough, I was actually perusing the Battle College as I typed up my earlier reply! there is a lot of awesome info on there.
Currently my 500pt army stands at:
Coleman Stryker
Defender Heavy Warjack
Centurion Heavy Warjack
Charger Light 'Jack
Stormblades
Stormblade Command
13 models in total... Oh no, I'm going to get swamped... oh well, I like Warjacks! Quick February 15th, 2008, 15:37 Wow. That is literally almost the exact same list I play, except I use a Guardian at higher points levels.
Two things to mention:
The Choir should be maxed out at 6, and the Zealots should be maxed out at 10.
Vilmon is a better choice than the Revenger. Severius works well with rocket-based stuff, but Vilmon's a Monster in combat. starman907 February 15th, 2008, 17:49 Again thanks for the advice, just a couple of questions though,
Are you saying i should have 2 choirs of 6 or just 1
and what would be a good caster to take with Vilmon, or will Severius work just fine?
Again thanks for all the advice. Quick February 15th, 2008, 17:59 At 500, with two Jacks, one choir of 6 bases is enough.
Vilmon operates pretty well on his own, but I've personally seen him used most effectively with Feora. Feora supports beatstick units pretty well, I think.
A lot of Severius' spells would be great with Vilmon, but Severius is usually using them on himself or other units that need it more. starman907 February 15th, 2008, 18:39 so, if i take the advice i've been given i've got 2 possible armies, they look something like this
1st draft
Grand Scrutator Severius (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Severius)
Devout (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Devout)
Redeemer (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Redeemer)
Revenger (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Revenger)
Knight Exemplar Seneschal (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Seneschal)
Knights Exemplar (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Exemplar)
Choir of Menoth (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Choir) (x6)
Monolith Bearer (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Monolith)
Holy Zealots (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Zealots) (x10)
Which is 1 point over and since i dont plan on playing in tournys yet im not to worried about that
2nd draft
Feora Priestess of the Flame (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Feora)
Devout (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Devout)
Revenger (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Revenger)
High Paladin Dartan Vilmon (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Vilmon)
Paladin of the Order of the Wall (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Paladin) (x2)
Knight Exemplar Seneschal (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Seneschal)
Knights Exemplar (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Exemplar)
Choir of Menoth (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Choir) (x6)
Monolith Bearer (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Monolith)
Holy Zealots (http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/Zealots) (x10)
Thats 5 points over, but again, i doubt they will care
So how do those 2 look/compare to each other? and again thanks for the advice, i love small bordes with helpful people;Y Quick February 15th, 2008, 22:11 That Feora list looks quite nasty. Vilmon with Paladins can be very nasty. The KEs with the Seneschal equally so.
Once they get their butts handed to them, they'll start caring that it's five points over.
If you want to get under 500, consider perhaps dropping a Paladin for a pair of Wracks. starman907 February 16th, 2008, 08:06 Ok, i think im going to go with 2nd draft (feora) and, once i finally get everything, how will my army set up look on a table, because everyone knows good soliders are worthless if they can't work together.
But, what i think it will look like is this
Zealots followed by a mono bearer, followed by Knights with a double swordy wieldy guy, followed by vilmon with the P's of the O of the W on either side of him, and finaly feora in the back with her devout. So the question is, where does the revenger and choir fit into this wall of soldiers? | |
