Ive started trying out using GS on some spare CSM parts i have and im now trying to figure out a suitable colour scheme for them. For the standard Chaos Marines i intend to only have a few bits of GS on them to show they've only just started turning nurgley (is that a word? lol).

The colour scheme for the nurgle bits will be the same as shown in this thread - RelicNews Forums - Nurgle 101 (updated 11/02 with Nurgle Possessed Construction Guide) (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=172615&page=2&pp=15)

...but i want the armour to be a different colour to the parts that are changing. For a basic Chaos Marine i only want the nurgle bits to be the linked colour scheme and the higher the Marine goes in rank the more of his armour turns to nurgle. I was thinking that as the marine turns more to nurgle his armour colour shifts to match the nurgle bits, so it'll be nice to see the different colour scheme shift/blend into the nurgle scheme. Some helpful suggestions are needed :p and i hope you all understood what i just said, lol.

If you paint just bits like that you're setting yourself up for an uphill struggle. If you were to glaze the Nurgle bits then you could get a smoother translation by far.

I think to get an effect of your models becoming more Nurgle-like you could try to make thier armour more colourless as they become more decayed. Gross, dead and rotting things tend not to have bright and lively colours. You could have thier armour slowly becoming paler and more bleached looking. Black becoming more brown and then eventually becoming pale and pus coloured.

I don't think it would be that hard. I would start by painting the center of the Nurgle bits the Nurgle color you want and then paint the rest of the armor with a good basecoat and then blend the two together through whatever method you choose. That way it would look like the Nurgle section was spreading out onto the rest of the armor. You could do anything from drybrushing to wet mixing and I think it would look good.

Well that's the sort of thing i want to do. What i'll do is paint the nurgle bits first because i'll be drybrushing the various stages and it's a lot easier doing so when you don't have to worry about going over the armour colour scheme. Once ive done the nurgle parts and added any fine details i'll then start on the non-nurgle armour colour. Im either thinking of having the colour scheme green to save time or possibly use my Space Marine colour scheme of Red Gore and Burnished Gold hands, as though a section of my SM army turned to nurgle.

Thinking about it some more ive decided to have the main chaos colour scheme as red gore with burnished gold trim. Then on every model there will be some nurgle bits and as the model goes up in rank the more nurgle bits are added until you get to a chaos lord and he just looks like a lump of pus :p lol. Should be interesting to see how it works.

After finishing off the GS stuff today i started painting them and what ive realised to be the best way of painting is to just paint the armour. Once that is done and finished i can then start drybrushing the GS, which will mean when im done i will have already blended the nurgle colour scheme into the armour, saving me from trying to paint the armour while not going onto the nurgle bits too much (hope that makes sense).

P.s if a mod doesn't like the 3 posts in a row, feel free to combine them but leave a space or two between eac one...
