Welcome to the PROVING GROUND my good Warlords and Warladies! Now is the time to summon your greatest warriors - for blood shall soon drench the soil. A call for war beckons for your greatest armies. Will you answer the call?!?!

Now that the formalities have been put out there - welcome once again to Proving Ground, a new 40K Votewar. The point value will be 1750 points, as this is a votewar meant to help all of those who want to make the best list they possibly can in preparation for the many upcoming Games Days and Grand Tournaments this year. Now is the time to prepare! The rules are as follows -

1.) Any who wish to participate should send me an email to me at hotspike18@yahoo.com and also put a post here mentioning your entry so I know to look for it. Please put "40k Votewar" in the subject section of the email for easy recognition.

2.) Army Lists should follow all regular rules for list composition. Lists should also follow all of this year's Grand Tournament rules found here. (http://gt.us.games-workshop.com/2008/gt_promo/rules_40k.htm)

3.) When you submit your list, please include your LO username. You'll mostly be held to the honor system, I will try to check all the lists, but it's unlikely I'll catch everything. Also, please include a small blurb (up to 200 words-ish) that discusses the tactics for your list.

4.) When matches are posted, lists will be anonymous. You may not vote for yourself, And please do not attempt to expose yourself, if possible avoid posting frequently in matches that involve your lists. Each match will be open for 72 hours for voting.

5.) The Votewar will be double elimination, I'll try my best to arrange a suitable ladder organization system to be available for everyone to see.

Our goal for this tournament is 32 players. So I look forward to seeing all of your list submissions. I've sent a private message to one of the moderators to get official permission. Please send me a PM or post something here if you have any questions for me.

Glad to see things are speeding up - if you have a (Pending) next to your name on the first post in this thread, then that means that you have expressed a desire to enter the competition to me through email, PM, or post and I have not yet received the actual list. This is perfectly fine, just make sure they get in soon. Once I've received 32 entry lists I'll need a couple a days to glance through each list to check for any major legality issues. If you guys notice something during the competition that is wrong please let me know ASAP.

@darkreever - Nope, sorry about that. It does sound like that but I simply meant to encourage players with armies who we don't have a lot of. One entry per person - seeing as how this is my first Votewar host, I'd like to keep things simple, which is why the double elimination may get removed. But we'll see....

@Everyone - Please do not be offended if you see that your list has been reformatted when the matches are posted. I'll be re-writing the lists to make sure they all look the same and that there won't be any incriminating fluff, formatting, or extra comments in there. Note that I'll do my best to preserve the original intent.

Thanks also to those of you who have offered advice and time to help me get this thing together. I hope that you all have fun with the battles to come. But first some quick rules reminders –

2.) Be courteous – LO is a great online community that rises above the rest when it comes to its members and their behavior. Please treat each other with the respect that each of you deserve.

As for what you can do next time, how about have the lists mentioned in the title. eg, it would read something like this:
"Battle 6, List 15 vs List 21". The rounds can be very hard to keep track of otherwise.

I am sorry to poke holes in the organisation of this, but I think there has been a tiny error, assuming this is a single elimination tournament.

The sisters list, now competing in battle 8 of round 2 actually lost to the chaos list in round 1, battle 6. I think the score was 5-3 to the chaos list, so has there been an error, or has the emperors mercy been extra kind? :P
