View Full Version : Painting Elves, need help rookai March 20th, 2008, 10:06 SKIN
Painting a layer of dwarf flesh highlighted by elf flesh then a final highlight of bleached bone.
HAIR
This is what i have trouble with because i dont know what colors to use, i was thinking brown because i am going with the classic green/brown woodland colors for my wood elves.
Do these paints sound good? Any pictures/advice would be much aprreciated. xbanditsx March 20th, 2008, 17:14 I think that blonde hair looks good on brown / green elves since it provides a much needed bright color on an otherwise dark model. I've tried white, gray, and orange colored hair as well to help break up the monotony.
For their skin I use Tanned Flesh, Dwarf Flesh, and a last highlight of Elf Flesh. It works pretty well (and looks like *this* (http://us.games-workshop.com/games/warhammer/woodelves/gettingstarted/images/popup.htm?5b.jpg)), but I've been thinking of trying Flesh Wash in between the Tanned and Dwarf.
Here are some phenomenal examples of painted Wood Elves:

I might wash it with a very watery tanned flesh. A light wash.
I do blond and blue hair, sometimes red and grey/white with my Wood Elves. Walex March 21st, 2008, 04:16 My elves;
Skin:
Vermin brown, vermin brown+kommando khaki, highlight up to komando khaki and wash with black.
Hair:
Vermin brown, hilight with a few drybrushes of vermin brown+increasing amounts of golden yellow.
They look darn nice and very efly, whilst not taking very long. I can post pictures if anyone's interested. rookai March 21st, 2008, 11:54 I am interested in pictures, for a fantasy army i am stuck between Wood Elves, Dwarves or Tomb kings
But please post your wood elf models! 8X DavidVC04 March 21st, 2008, 16:24 There is a link in my signature to my pics. Walex March 21st, 2008, 20:36 These aren't really wood elves, they're just elves since they were made in 1985. I didn't finish them but you can see the skin in action if nothing else.
Sorry about the stupid mistakes and such.
