View Full Version : bits question? Koss March 22nd, 2008, 23:15 is it still possible to order individual bits from games workshop that are now included in bits packages?
reason is i am using one specific head for my entire army, but It is now in a conversion pack costing 16$ and it only includes one of those heads. If i cant get more of these heads, i wont be able to finish my army :|, meaning I spent a bunch of money for nothing. InquisitorAffe March 23rd, 2008, 00:15 Nope, that would kind of defeat the purpose of the system they cooked up to irritate us, no? Unless you can find a friend who's interested in the other bits or something, you are largely SOL. To eBay! TheShad0w March 23rd, 2008, 01:40 As affe said, you can no longer buy individual bitz anymore. The reason being is that when someone ordered for example an Iron Warrior head then if the ordered head was out of stock, they would have to use the entire mold it was apart of just to get the head and so they would have 'wasted' money on the metail in order to get the requested item. Granted the other items would eventually be used but over time they would often have quite a lot of unused bitz, due to only a few items from same mold being wanted. With the new bitz packs they only have to use the mold 'once' per order so to speak. Konstantin March 23rd, 2008, 01:41 You could always try various bitz website sites. Like wookiehole, BWbitz, and many others.
Good luck though. The Watcher March 23rd, 2008, 11:35 As affe said, you can no longer buy individual bitz anymore. A lame excuse from GW. Since they could melt down surplus bitz and recycle the metal... TheShad0w March 23rd, 2008, 13:20 A lame excuse from GW. Since they could melt down surplus bitz and recycle the metal...
True, which is perhaps what they did once they had collected X amount of spare unsed parts, but it does save metal and money by only using the mold for bitz packs instead of individual parts. It's possible they compared the cost of melting down everytime and reusing the metal to only producing a set amount of bitz each time. Or something along those lines. They could easily do the same with sprues. That would save them ALOT of money + be considered soem what green. Cause eventualy some environmental gov group will make them make alot of changes to the way they do things. nillic March 24th, 2008, 20:09 It may be lame for us hard core converters, but to GW's credit, they gave us many warnings and many chances to buy our bitz before they were taken down. They had downloadable pdf's of all the bitz that would no longer be available, mentioned it repeated on their website and in the Webway Newsletter, telling us order while you still can. So you can't be that upset at them. They're a buisness and they have to balance what is most profitable with what the consumer wants. InquisitorAffe March 25th, 2008, 05:00 A lame excuse from GW. More man hours, more depreciating capital equipment, more wear on the molds, same overhead for warehousing. I'd be shocked to think it's the cost of the actual metal that has any big impact. kitsandbits March 28th, 2008, 11:25 I supply bits , check out my webstore BITS AND KITS UK - Home (http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk)

M Chaos877 March 28th, 2008, 22:53 hmmm... that sounds a lot like advertising to me...
