So, after half a decade of barely paying attention to Warhammer, I finally decided to dust off my half finished Tau army and maybe pick up some new models... like the Shadowsun one...

Which, in Canada, costs 45C$
Games Workshop Online Store - TAU COMMANDER SHADOWSUN (http://ca.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.ca?do=Individual&code=99110113017&orignav=10)

And in the US: 25$
Games Workshop US Online Store (http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.us?do=List_Models&code=305557&orignav=11&ParentID=258189&GameNav=10)

...

Yeah, that's kind of strange... since... see the Canadian dollar has been pretty much trading about equal to the US for a few months, and the last time the Canadian dollar was worth approxiametly 55cents to the US dollar was... well...

...never.

The lowest it got was 62cents US, and that was way way back in 2002. You know, just six whole years ago...

They're a bunch of hosers at the Canadian site, eh?

Nope, it's all because the US$ has been steadily heading downhill for so long it's has meant that when you convert the US prices to your home country, they seem to get everything cheap, it's the same with all things actually. For well over a year now, nearly all hobbiest near me (in Australia) have been ordering their stuff from US websites (GW or otherwise) because even after postage halfway across the globe, it's still crazily cheaper than popping into the shop 5 minutes away.

My advice, join the bandwagon and buy stuff from them too!

Edit - to make you feel better, buying shadowsun in Australia would cost you CAN$ 51.30... it's all in the exchange rates...

Well that doesn't make sense, in the UK she's £18 which translates to $35 odd dollars and $36 for canada. Yet on US site she's $25 and Canadian site $45, how odd?

Everybody loves Americans, everybody hates Canadians. It's that simple.

Or every country's business is handled by a different branch of the company and each individual branch determines prices.

Or Canada has higher tariffs than the US.

Simple. The canadian branch is even more money crazed than the rest of GW;)

GW Canada certainly has to pay more taxes than GW US =).

I try to maintain a balance, things that are absurdly out of whack I will order from the US. Or a big huge bulk order to get a new army started up I'll go to thewarstore.net. When I only want one kit or a few blisters, some paint, etc, I go to my LGS and try to buy as much there as I can afford to. If nobody bought anything from him, he wouldn't be there, then where would I play warhammer and meet new players?

Well what would you expect with your beady little eyes and flapping heads?

Just kidding of course.

It is strange, I agree. But then again it's the same difference between Seden and Norway. They pay quite a lot more for the same stuff than we do...they have more money too though...

Wonder what country is the cheapest for GW products...

Yeah we should have invaded and grabbed their oil ages ago... :P

Well the prices for GW stuff here in Sweden is the same as in the UK. I was of the impresion that most GW stuff costs the same when you have converted the cash and all.
