Hell yes. I can't wait to play that - hopefully they'll have updated all of the models to be in line with the new miniatures (Eldar especially 8Y)! Looks superb, I'm sure my rig will handle it :D

Its does indeed look very tasty :D

It'll be good to play, though I wonder if they will keep the same screen layout as DoW and Company of Heroes this time around.

All the races they already have will most likely return (Sisters of Battle and Dark Eldar would be the ones dropped if their where any). Tyranids will almost certainly be added due to huge amounts of public support for them (see above post). I would love to see Lost and the Damned though 8Y

One scary thought, they might have individual Space Marine chapters (NOOO!! Please no more Space Marines!)

looks at DoW2.....

Looks at Soulstorm.....

Puts Soulstorm in the bin.....

Seriously, Soulstorm was such a let down, I'd be happy if they even went back to the original 4 races for the first installment of DoW2 with those graphics, especially if they take the gameplay in the direction CoH is at now.
Still, got roughly another year till this is out yeah?

AnAngrySquirrel
April 6th, 2008, 21:06
Yeah this one needs to have tyranids. I take it as this is the actual sequel it'll carry on from the first one's story?

shammus_the_scout
April 6th, 2008, 21:10
Hopefully. I liked the characters from the first.
Idea for 'Nids, what if, instead of getting requistion from control points, you had ripper swarms that ate enemy units, giving you requisition? Or maybe do that for power...

Dawn of War 2 AND Starcraft 2, either someone hacked the matrix or the robots are trying to distract us from something.

Oh me oh my...maybe Soulstorm wasn't that great because they were applying all their resources to DOW II??

Like maybe the fliers in Soulstorm were just a teaser for the actual fliers in DOW II.

Soulstorm was subpar because Relic passed the duty off onto Ironlore. Glad to see they aren't doing that with DOW2 though. So it's possible that Relic shifted duties to another company so they could devote resources to DOW2.

Konstantin
April 7th, 2008, 06:50
Well whoever bought soulstorm remember this. You get to get into the DoW2 Multiplayer beta cause of it. So it wasn't a complete waste of money.

Also for all the races, the more and more i see and learn bout this game, the more i sure i am that Orkz and Space Marines are going to be the only races.

But even if they wern't, i would only suspect 4 races at most.

EDIT: It's the 41st Millennium in the Sub-Sector Aurelia - a cluster of worlds on the edge of the Galaxy - where a battle of epic proportions is about to commence. Ancient races will clash across the planets that dot this section of space, battling for the greatest of stakes - not only the claim to the land and its bounty - but the fate of each race.

With a focus on fast-action RTS gameplay, Dawn of War II brings to life the science fiction universe of Warhammer 40,000 like never before. Experience the intimate brutality of battle as you play through your chosen race's epic campaign. Clash with enemies on battlefields ablaze with visceral melee and ranged combat. Lead and develop your squads from raw recruits into the most battle hardened veterans in the Galaxy.

Hmm, ok maybe there will be more than just Orkz and SM, and if it were just them it seems logical to just say both of them instead of race's.

nah no matter how amazing they made it with just two races, it would get boring so fast. I played dc so many times with each race because its so different.

Why C.S Goto? Looked fine to me.

I took me a while to find it myself and, I think that Konstantin is right on the way that the Space Marine commander moves. There is no way a Commander would be able to do that! Think of the weight of his armour combined with the Thunder Hammer.
Sorry to be a grinch on the movie here, but I think that looks a little bit too cheesy on the part of the Commander :P
Though the Screenshots more than makes up for it though!

I think the SM, Orks, Chaos and Eldar should be the first port of call, perhaps swap out the Eldar for the Tyranids!

That's why it's called a teaser trailer... they don't show you anything important. All they show is enough to catch the eye and hopefully keep it in your mind for when they actually release pertinent gameplay information. Given the game isn't due out for a year or more that could be some time from now.

Actually, SMs could very easily do that sort of thing. You are forgetting that the augmentation of their armor doesn't just make it wearable, it increases their already uber strength and speed. A termi definately couldn't, but a normal marine with standard armor can probably do things that would make olympic gymnists and runners jealous.

Its looking really good, hope my machine can handle it.
If marines are all gymnasts, why don't they hop on ork heads all the time instead of sitting there stabbing at them with their combat knives?

I liked it, as a short teaser trailer it is just right.
Screen shots are very cool, but the Orks seem too shiny for my liking.
I really have high hopes for this game, can't wait. If it is DirectX 10 only, it may be enough to persuade me to get Vista..

Yeah... agreed on variety, I did the DC campaign over a lot. Despite the horrible writing in the beginning (though IMHO it picks up a bit in the Sisters campaign, plus they did an awesome job on the Sisters), I'm probably still going to play Soulstorm as often as possible. The variety is awesome.

boycotting until tyranids become a playable race. Seriously, ive played them for 10 years now on the tabletop and until i see them in the rts im not getting it. im sure it will be awesome and cool but it just irks me. was it really that hard to make 1 more expansion and fit tyranids into the picture?

And as Relic have stated oh so many times, the old DoW game engine could not make the Tyranids justice, thus they were not included.

I doubt it, since DoW, 40k MMO, and everyother Warhammer game doesn't belong to GW. Plus they're doing a exclusive on Warhammer stuff, so might as well try to make even more hype for it.

But alas, internet sarcasm doesn't work.

How about just playing a game for what it is instead of what it isn't? Just because it doesn't have 'your' army in it doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

I had played the Soulstorm Demo and was very disappointed with it, after playing Company of Heroes, it makes one realize that Dawn of War is past its prime. I am really excited that Relic is making what people really wanted. :) My beastly PC does a very good job at running Company of Heroes, so Dawn of War II will be beautiful. :)

Hopefully they wont have that idiot Captain from Soulstorm in there, from what I got from the demo, he sounded incompetent, treated his assets as disposable; in short, he would be a stereotypical IG leader.

And don't sweat the lack of Tyranids, I'm sure somebody will come up with a nice modification or that Relic will make an expansion pack, just sit back and enjoy the shiny new fireworks with real time physics! ^_^

Realistically they'd look about like that. What with them being two meters tall and their armor being the equivalent of tank armor.

Are you saying that anything made outside of GW that uses the Warhammer and 40k IP doesn't belong to GW? While the product doesn't belong to Gw as they didn't make it the IP does and so they'd be getting money back through the license of the IP.

GW sold the rights for xx ammount of years for these peopel to make games off of them. GW doesn't have a say about anything that goes in or out of them as long as they (THQ/Mythic) still have the IP for the games
