This army is totally fluff based, so bear that in mind when commenting.

It is based around an army of Nuln, with lots of black powder.

Heroes (min = 345 with 2 x dispel scrolls for each Wizard)

1 x Captain of the Empire
2 x Battle Wizards (scroll caddies?)
1 x Master Engineer

(I have also given over 200 extra points for upgrades, magic etc)

Core (782)

20 x Halberdiers, with Musician and Standard Bearer
10 x Handgunners (detachment)
10 x Swordsmen (detachment)

note, the above is repeated

Knightly Orders
2 x 5 Knights, with Musician and Standard Bearer

Special (380)

5 x Outriders
1 x Great Cannon
1 x Great Cannon
1 x Morter

Rare (225)

1 x Hellblaster
1 x Hellstorm

Total 1932

note, this total includes the additional 200 points for Hero upgrades.

Please feel free to light the fuse and blow this list apart, but remember to try to keep the spirit of the Nuln Gunnery School alive. 8Y

Oh, and any thoughts about spending the 200 points of Hero upgrades also welcome. I was thinking of putting the Battle Wizards with the Halberdiers, giving the Captain a Warhorse and putting him with one of the Knight units and giving the Engineer a Warhorse and a Repeater Handgun and putting him with the Outriders.

Thanks. ;Y

First thing: You have two rares, you can only take one in this point level.

Hero upgrades: Id give the captain a warhorse, a pistol (since youre going for more dakka), a shield, a sword of might, and dawn armor.

Load your mages with scrolls. With only 4 dispel dice, youll need them.

Engineer..>Id either put him with the helblaster (if you pick that over the helstorm) or putting him in with the outriders wouldnt be bad.

What lore were you thinking of making the wizards?

At 2000 pts you have 2 rare slots. I would keep the Captain of the Empire on foot and give him armour of meteoric iron, and great weapon.

One problem with an engineer is you can take a unit of 10 handgunners and a marskman with a hochland long rifle for slightly more points. The Hochland long rifle is a amazing thing, really nice to snipe wizards with. Running a Nuln Gunnery School you might want run a few long rifles, I would think they would have a few snipers.

I would change the Halberdiers with spearmen or swordsmen. Swordsmen can survive a bit better and spearmen have two rank of attack(not on the charge turn). I really like Halberdiers as a detatchment.

Dont put your wizards in a melee unit, you want those units in combat and then the enemy can target your wizard. Rather put them in the handgunner unit.

I'm still not too convinced with outriders, they not bad but I find pistoliers more to my taste,
I want my fast cavlry to move around and harass. Outriders are just a little static for me, yes you can move them on the first round into a position and then shoot from the flank.

I still need to test a Hellstorm but it just seem a bit too random, I would use it against horde armies just that there is a bigger chance to hit something.

Thanks for the replies.

It was nice to read that my idea wasn't blown apart and that it seems like it may be a 'competitive' list of sorts.

I agree that the Wizards need to be scroll cadies, that is what I had planned, but I don't know enough about lores to make an informed choice, although lore of metal or fire are fluffy.

I can see the benefit of having Swordsmen as the block with Halberdier detachments and also the point about putting the Wizards in with the handgunners.

The long rifles also make sense, I will see what points are left when I portion out the 200 points of character upgrades.

I will probably get 2 Hellblasters and 1 Hellstorm, that way I can run with a variety of options depending on opponents.

I will post an updated list in a bit, when I have had a think.

Thanks again.

Thatd be three rares. Only two. Id take one of each, atleast until you find your playing style or which one performs better/more to your taste.

Also, if you're taking a helblaster, I'd put the Engineer with it. Though he may die ifit explodes, that extra BS will really help.
