View Full Version : First zombies for my new VC army arisen devil April 14th, 2008, 13:21 I've started VC a while ago because I needed an evil army to complete the circle - I've got brets on the good side, ogres neutral, and now VC on the evil side.
Yesterday, I finally got round to painting some of them. I started with a batch of 10 zombies which took me about 2-3 hours.
Right now, I've got 20 skellies, 30 zombies, 10 GG, 10 ghouls, 4 vamps, 5 blood knights, a varghulf and a corpse cart left unpainted. Once the skellies, zombies, corpse cart and ghouls are painted I'll be buying another batallion box; the other models will be painted as diversions so it doesn't become a drag :)
The bases are still blank as I haven't decided what I'm going to do with them.
The dark brown parts are scorched brown with a catachan green wash (which only really shows in the pic with the guy with the missing arm), and the skin has gotten a brown ink wash after which it was highlighted with rotting flesh, which also doesn't show on the pics (I guess it's the lighting)
Anyways, on to the pics :rofl

It looks like they've just been resurected or summoned. Also i LOVE the model with an arm on the floor, it reminds me of the scene is saving private ryan where that guy is looking for his arm. martijn April 14th, 2008, 20:49 Nice! I really like those organs and eyes wrekka April 14th, 2008, 21:04 Wow these look fantastic! The guy looking for his arm is by far my favorite. Is that how the model came, or did you modify a model to make it that way? If the model came that way - I want to buy that individual model just to paint it :P Darkman1111 April 14th, 2008, 21:16 nice zombies :> Frost.fire April 14th, 2008, 21:40 Is it jus me, or is GW obsessed with large, oversized hands Nunizillion April 14th, 2008, 21:56 hey, what those zombies have is a very real problem. don't make fun of thier hands, they were born that way. (or unborn? hmm)
looking good. planing on inking the guts to make em look squishy and bloody? Walex April 14th, 2008, 22:14 Am I the only one to be appalled that the seccond rank zombies are laughing at the one with a missing arm?
They're quite nice although I would really advise a wash on the eyes (scab red) to give them better definition and what not. arisen devil April 14th, 2008, 23:07 Am I the only one to be appalled that the seccond rank zombies are laughing at the one with a missing arm?
I hadn't even noticed that myself - now they're even funnier :D
The scab red wash is a good idea - I'll apply it to them tomorrow, together with the next batch of zombies ;Y arisen devil April 14th, 2008, 23:11 Wow these look fantastic! The forearm is a piece that comes like that on the sprue - for the upperarm, I just snipped it in half :rofl
I don't plan on inking the guts as I want them drier (they dried up because of the time spent in the dirt) ... that, and the paintscheme for my ghouls will be bloody enough :ninja3: Tekore April 15th, 2008, 14:04 Very nice, the poses are top notch.

I just started painting my Tomb Kings so you gave me some great ideas as far as mutilations go! Repped! Zemaphore April 15th, 2008, 15:51 Looking good, i made all my zombies without handweapons, as i feel that's how zombies operate (= the Max Brooks type of zombie not the Romero kind of zombie)
I like that loose head 1 of em is holding up, nice detail. Phormio April 16th, 2008, 04:25 Not bad, but the photo's need work. Everything seems to have a yellow glow.
Also, I'd work on the eyes. Perhaps a blue/green combination to make them look like the eyes are rotting out of the skulls?
All in all - it's good work. WolfDreamerNZ April 19th, 2008, 12:52 Never a fan of bloody bits - I think you pulled this off well - for mindless zombies they are full of character! Good job! arisen devil April 19th, 2008, 14:48 I've worked a bit more on the zombies - basing them ... and giving them pinkeye :D. Now where's Kenny so I can kill him so all my zombies turn into WS3 S3 T3 humans 8X(anybody remember this from the south park halloween episode? :)) . I've painted 20 already - but I've only based 5 so far

DavidVC04 April 19th, 2008, 23:37 I love me some zombies. Nice work. :) | |
