Do you guys usually run your butchers in units or by themselves? Just wondering. And do ogre sized models have 360 degree LOS or is it still the 90 degree rule?

And do ogre sized models have 360 degree LOS or is it still the 90 degree rule? Phoenix April 15th, 2008, 11:24 Cant comment on running them (though if i did id run them in units of bulls i think), but if alone they do have 90 LoS. arisen devil April 15th, 2008, 11:51 I always field my characters in units of 3 ironguts. There are exceptions though; e.g. when playing against a lizardmen player with lots of skinks, I'll likely run 1 or 2 solo to go skink-hunting as they're immune to poison , and 1 of them will have the bangstick. On the charge, I sometimes leave them behind for keeping them from being killed though; although I make an exception when my butcher is equipped with the siegebreaker. Another time a solo butcher is good is against empire with a steam tank. Give the butcher the siegebreaker, and he'll destroy the tank in 1 or 2 turns, plus he can't get impact hits, and that's a good thing against a steam tank :rofl White_Rabbit April 15th, 2008, 17:39 So are you able to declare a charge and then move the Butcher out of the regiment? Phoenix April 15th, 2008, 17:55 No, if the unit containing a Character charges, the Character must go with them. Characters can charge out of units alone though, but then the unit cannot charge anything (i dont think) Butchers are harder then most enemy characters though, so you shouldn't be too scared to throw them into combat. arisen devil April 15th, 2008, 19:25 What I meant was moving them out of the unit the turn before I charge, sorry for the misunderstanding :) . But as phoenix noted - butchers are stronger then a lot of regular heroes, just don't get them in combat against things like grave guard armed with great weapons :P Phoenix April 15th, 2008, 19:38 Oh i dont know Arisen... GWs means the butcher will be attacking 1st, on the charge, with a possible impact hit. Killing Blow doesnt affect ogres.. you have it pretty good against most infantry. But as phoenix noted - butchers are stronger then a lot of regular heroes, just don't get them in combat against things like grave guard armed with great weapons :P ^^^^ What he said. As to butchers. They really really need to be in a unit of Ironguts for saftey. Butchers have awefull LD (ie. 7) for a character so the LD bumb from the Guts really helps. Now this doesnt mean you cant charge your butcher out but its just much more effective to keep him in a unit as their is not alot of benifit to running him solo. For LoS. All single ogre models (even units wiped down to a single Model) Move as Monsters. Means they are stuck with the 90 degree LoS. Sucks i know. White_Rabbit April 15th, 2008, 21:51 So, if I had a single model I would have to wheel correct? arisen devil April 15th, 2008, 21:51 Oh i dont know Arisen... GWs means the butcher will be attacking 1st, on the charge, with a possible impact hit. Killing Blow doesnt affect ogres.. you have it pretty good against most infantry. the danger vs great weapon GG lies in the support factor - vanhel's danse macabre and corpse carts can really ruin an ogre's day :0. All i'm saying is; elite units will likely kill your precious butchers and their buff spells with them - and that's never a good thing, is it? :) arisen devil April 15th, 2008, 21:53 when you've got a single ogre, it moves like any other single monster - and that includes wheeling ;Y White_Rabbit April 15th, 2008, 21:56 Booo! Lol, thanks. kbolster12345 April 22nd, 2008, 14:11 when you've got a single ogre, it moves like any other single monster - and that includes wheeling ;Y Arisen is correct about OK chars moving like single monsters but they don't have to wheel when by themselves. They get to PIVOT. So you can just spin them on their center and then start deducting from their movement as you move thm in the direction you wish them to go. |
