I don't see why not; just say they are from a later founding or something.

What? That's dumb. Honestly I don't think anybody cares what you paint the BT. You might get a few looks asking why they're [insert colour here] but really they don't honestly have any rights on what colour they have to be. Then again I don't own the codex so I really don't know.

Of course you can, just say that this crusade that they are on for whatever reasion they painted there armour ___ colour. I mean its not as if they follow the codex all that well anyways ...shady bunch I reckons.... ;)

Paint them any color you like. There would only be a rules issue if you use colors and iconography that belong to another chapter that has official rules (e.g., you couldn't paint them red and put blood drops on their shoulders and say it's a BT army.) As long as you preserve the Knight's Cross & Skull iconography throughout the army go nuts with your color scheme. If you scrap the iconography as well as the colors, make sure you don't look like any other 'official' chapter.

I do play my succesor chapter from black templars... PURPLE TEMPLARS they fight the very same ;D

i have actually fought agaisnt orange black templar at a GW tourny...so yeah they would be legal.Anyway have you EVER heard of an army which you can't paint any way you want? (yes you can even make strawberry pink dark eldars)
