So the general idea, points denial. Almost no support units at all and those that could be classified as such(the smaller warrior units) are not easily removed. The BTs are fun things, if charged they will eventually go BOOM! and if not charged they will be able to shoot instead.
So the concept is that you gotta go after my big and tough blocks to score any real points.

So yeah, any comments? idea how to improve it?

One thing I have been juggling around is to make one of the big warrior blocks into longbeards and give em RoBattle and put the BSB there. Massive CR which wont panic and support the units closeby. Combined with the banner from the hammers and the effects of the BSB it will create a nice wall of dwarfs who´s not going anywhere soon!

Cheers

If your aim is points denial then i have one thing to say to you...Ironbreakers. Litterally the toughest troops we got.

Your Bolt Throwers are as expensive as Cannons and not nearly as effective. If you want them to blow up don't rune them up with other expensive runes and engineers. Just put Immolation on them and place them in front of your army where they are sure to get charged....BANG!!! More effective use of the immolation tactic without the points lost to expensive runes. The other tricksy thing to do is if your consistently playing the same people is to always have one of your BT's with Immolation...you don't need to tell your opponent till they charge the one its on...then BOOM!! Makes opponents leary of charging your seige engines with expensive uber units.

Thats just the thing, I am not planning to lose them and so I will not place them in a position where it is obvious that they have the rune. Think of it like this, if it doesnt get charged I can shoot, if it does get charged I can hold said unit in place for a turn or two(mostly) and then blow up or in the case of a unit which try to steamroll my flank(in which case it probably wont hold in place for long) I can blow it up.

So my opponent have to choose, either S7 bolts or the unit you charge it with will mostly likely die in a fiery inferno. The other grand thing is that sometimes dwarfs actually break the war machine hunters, infact it is not rare at all(as you also say) that your opponent will do an overkill charge with a big unit to be able to overrun into a new enemy.

Perhaps I should have explained this in more detail in my original post.

Ironbreakers is indeed something worth considering.

Cheers!

What your saying is that your paying for a rune you don't intend to use? The contradiction is a little painfull. Now don't get me wrong, I know you will use it if the situation arises...but thats points wasted on an "if". For the same points you could have a rune that hurts the enemy every turn no matter what they do...or have a something like a cannon with a rune of forging which would kill more units than a BT ever could (and more reliably), even if it blew up and took a squad of skirmishers with it.

Think of it this way. Phsychological advantage. Saving points. Ask yourself which units which tend to bite it? thunderers, quarrellers, war machines. These are almost always the units who give my opponent VPs.
However, it is not easy VPs to go after the big blocks. Tough as nails and most likely arent going anywhwere(MRoGrugni helping out on survivalbility as well).
Lets say he does not go after the BTs, well thats just points my opponent isnt getting then and more shots for me.
This means he is ;
1. Going after my big blocks.
2. Trying to shoot my war machines, and we all know how effective shooting is against them.
3. Not shooting my regular blocks.

So what I am saying is that it is a mind-game. I dont want to lose them but I have the option of doing so for the greater good, a fair trade off in my book. Even if he knows that there are RoImmo on them they work for me(points 1-3).

I see your points well but it is only 60pts in total and given my experience my BTs rarely live through a game anyways so why not take my opponent down in the flames as well?

Dwarf Lord ; 271pts
[GW, Shieldbrearers, RoFurnace, RoStone, MRoSpite, RoChallenge, RoWarding]

Sorry if this was mentioned before, but I believe the Rune of Challenge is a master rune, meaning you have 2 master runes on your runic talisman.

Good catch on that, i had actually done that without noticing in my last list....oups! Btw if you want to make the lord even harder to kill, just give him the rune of resistance . a 1+ rerollable save with 4+ ward? grimgor has problems getting a wound through
