I've had a quick look around and I couldn't find a guide on this art so i'd be really grateful if somebody could either tell me or link me to where it shows how to get paint off minitures or at least what I should dip them in.

Also if it matters I need to strip both plastic and metal models.

Thanks very much.

I've heard that Flash Power Spray (oven cleaner) works, as long as you are careful not to leave it for too long. I can't see it doing much harm to metals, but it could melt the plastics if you don't check it regularly.

If you do try it out, do a metal mini first and check it every couple minutes. That way you get an idea of how long it takes to remove the paint for when you try it on the plastics.

Oh yeah, don't forget to scrub it with a toothbrush or something to ensure the paint is taken off, instead of just sitting on the model, as this can give a false impression as to progress.

If you type 'paint stripping' into the forum search you will find a lot of info on this subject.
Here's a couple to get you started:

i recently used brake fluid to strip paint of some metal minis, worked a treat, you just have to be careful of disposing it tho, its not to environment firendly.

I'm stripping a bunch of stuff right now. Hit up your local WalMart and pick up a 2 liter bottle of Simple Green. It'll be in the automotive cleaners. Then go find a Lock & Lock 2.6L storage container in the housewares section. It's really nice.. water proof, airtight, odor proof, lifetime warranty. It has four hinges to hold the top on. I've already flipped the entire thing with everyone in it a few times and haven't spilled a drop.

Put 1.8L of Simple Green into the tub, drop people it, let 'em sit.

I put everything in around noon yesterday and next Saturday they're coming out to get the paint scrubbed off.

After sitting there for literally the last 13 hours I can already see it bubbling off of some of the models.

I've got like.. 20+ Marines, a haggard 2nd edition predator, and a few random metal figs.

As there is a large thread covering this already, I am going to close it. Please do a search in future to see if these common topics have been addressed. :)
