Was wondering what people thought of grudge throwers as I dont see many of them at my local GW. I'm about to start dwarfs and was planning on taking a grudge thrower with 2 runes of penertration and rune of accuracy ( think those are the names, basiclly +2 strength so partial are strength 6 and get to re-roll scatter dice). Was wondering what people thought of that.

2 runes of Penetrating is a little over kill. Str 5 will kill most things on a 2 so you really won't need it. Besides it's also a waste under the hole where the str is doubled making it a non existant str 12. furthermore since there are no armor saves you don't need the str boost.

Rune of accuracy is nice. That and a master engineer can be alot of fun.

I think the reason you don't see them as much is people feel there are better choices for the points. People seem to like Cannons over them and Bolt Throwers over Cannons. IMO throwers are just as fun and a good guess and lucky roll (or in this case re-roll) can crush some serious units.

i recently bought a grudge thrower about 4 weeks ago. it has so far killed: 40 skeleton warriors, 40 goblins, 15 empire knights. those kills came from 4 games. 2 empire, 1 Vampire count, 1 goblin. wonderful war machine.

Yes, my Grudge Thrower is one of the most consistently devastating units that I field. With Rune of Penetration, Accuracy, and Reloading, and an Engineer, it hits nearly every single time. This past weekend, it killed 13 Sword Masters in one shot. You just have to be good at guessing, that's all.

Sadly I do not own a thrower I have a black powder theme to my army. Only non BP shooting is 20 quarrallers that will rarely, if ever, see the feild), but there is nothing wrong with it at all. penetration and accuracy is all you really need. And they canbe nasty.

I dont have one, but its on my list of things to get! with Rune of Accuracy its potentially one of the most devestating warmachines in the game! perfect for dealing with horde armies too.

A S5 template that hits 5/9ths of the time...

Although all the other warmachines are also important, for different reason and roles though. Cannon/bolt throwers for chariot, beasty sniping and cavalry cleansing, Organ gun for basically anything but especially skirmishers and flyers and flame cannon for killing/routing hordes. Grudge thrower and 2 bolt throwers are the ones I never leave without though.

It is a good warmachines and has always done good for me. I usually use it against horde armies w/2x bolt thowers, a cannon and bolt throwers vs hard hitting armies, and using the Goblin Hewer in place of the Grudge thrower whenevver I feel like it.8X
