I believe it is too brown right now, it almost looks like some kind of wooden armour. Although, for a first attempt it looks quite good. To make it look more like gold i would add some bubonic brown and mix it with white which would really make it shine.

It looks good, but like Spacewolf, I think it looks like dragon hide rather than gold.
I think more yellow is needed to make it more 'gold'.
Check out some GD winners for good examples of NMM.

That's my favourite.

More yellow and oddly placed hilights is the way forwards. Although I quite like it as it is.

I agree with most of the comments already posted, although I really wood (:D) like to see a Wood Elf army done like this, as it creates a very interesting wooden look to it...

I quite like it as well, I don't know that yellow is right though you could try it. THe colour that i found the best was Bubonic brown, I bought sunburst yellow but basically didn't touch it.
Bubonic brown up to bleaced bone then white, I think the white is the most important and most difficult part, it is the extreme highlights that give the metal that reflective quality and while I haven't got it perfected yet I am fairly sure that it is the white that makes all the difference.
Awesome first attempt anyway man and I really hope to see more. That unit of Phoenix gaurd will look terrific when you finish and you will have mastered the NMM.
