View Full Version : [PICS] Harry the Hammer, 10 hour special!

Well, I was lucky enough to be able to paint Harry the Hammer a few days before he was released, so that my local store would have a nice example to be able to show people on the release day.

I have to say, I really enjoyed painting him, even though I was only able to spend 10ish hours on him (including the amazingly detailed base...), which meant I ended up rushing somewhat.

Regardless, I love this model, and am thoroughly looking forward to painting one for myself...

Anyway, enough blabbering.
On with the pictures!

My personal favorite bits are (in order) the helmet horns (tromp l'oeil ftw!), the shield and the cloak...

Let me know what you guys think, and I'd appreciate some C&C if it's out there =)

Great model, buddy, as always, and especially for a rushed job. Your store should be proud to have a model like that on display.

That's actually pretty nice. Tell us; having painted the fig has Aly maintained any of his skill? When I first saw it I would have said yes but you've actually had the pleasure of painting him. It's a rather nice job by the way, especially the shield.

An excellent miniature painted from an excellent painter! Thanks for sharing it with us! ;?

In all honesty - i think this paint job is better than some of the ones in April's White Dwarf.

Seriously impressive work....I'm jealous.

I was never going to buy Harry, but if I'd had even a fraction of your talent, I would have considered it.

Looks very good. I especially like the shield. The cloak is also very nicely done. I may have to break out one of mine and have a go at it! 8X

Excellent work my friend. Excellent work!

Cheers,

-Mike

Ditto.

You've really come a long way in the last couple of years. It make me sick. :X

You've got me all envious. Like a lame hulk.

Well done m'lad, your one is millions times better than the one my local store had painted up. An awesome job! I can't wait for mine to arrive now :)

nice work!

You've done all that so nice and i'm still trying to put together my base!

Looks fun to paint though, really looking forward to it! (even though my talent is quite... err... questionable...)

Can't wait to see your version of it!

On the topic of the april white dwarf, i found the red-black stippled one quite interesting to look at, it is a technique that looks like a bit of fun as it is quite different to layering and painting in general, a lot less exact and more stylised.

Nice one t, nice one indeed. I agree with you on what you think are the strongest bits. But since your looking for some feedback, the skin does nothing for me at all, way too pink for my taste. I know you said it was rushed and stuff, but if there was one part I could change that would be it!

Great work apart from that. God only knows when I get around to painting my one!

Looking great, -t. My only comment would be that the metal on the hammer looks somewhat flat and would benefit from some more shading/highlighting. Still, a stunning miniature.

You sir...are a git. =(

This is a very good version of the mini, even better for the time frame in which it was painted. I would like to see your own one when you get to spend a good amount of time upon it properly. Regardless of that, you have done such a good job to a wonderful mini and have made me sort of want to do my own now...but dwarfs and the mini exchange are first. I just you know, need to find time/desire to do them all now. =/

Kuffeh! I haven't seen you around in a while!

Epic painting skills, -t. It is truly beautiful. I wish I could play guitar as well as you can paint! :P
