This is my WIP termie chap thread. The model will have an ork head at his feet, carved out a chunk, and sculpt some brains I have been painting in blood spatters to suggest a blast from crozius to ork head. This is also my first attempt at nmm. I am thouroughly plased with how it is going. (the chain and ball-thing are meant to be stone)

I tried NMM and only when you try it and realise how hard it is can you truly appreciate good NMM. And you sire have some good NMM!

I'm liking the mask but the stone cencer doesn't do it for me. (also a stone chain is terribly impractical)

This update is overdue, I know, but time did not permit for photos. Relating to the mini, Anybody know how one makes a deep, rich red?

I thought that that might be the case; practicalities can indeed be waived.

I'm not crazy about the blood on the crozius to be honest but if you're into that sort of thing then more power to you.

Deep red? It depends how deep, I like red gore, blood red highlights and a scab red wash; that looks lovely.

Sorry to interrupt the thread but...What is NMM? I assume it's a painting technique but I don't see what is unique about it based on the model.

I do like how the NMM gold turned out on the arm. The chest area it looks like there may be too much white, but it doesn't look bad. The think I am not so keen on is all the blood spatter. Pics are a bit dark but I think it might look ok on the crozius and the face even but everywhere else it looks too "over the top".

You might also want to lighten the tabard as well and thin out the writing on it. It seems to dark next to the black armour and the writing looks very uniform and thick. If you are finding brushes to be too difficult to control the "text" I would suggest trying a pigment pen. I find the .005 Micron pigma pens to be very nice for this kind of thing.

Librisrouge, NMM means non-metalic-metal. Meaning I am not using any matalic paint at all.

A pigment pen is simply a tool. Painting is not a test - sooo take it for what it is worth.

As to "over the top" now that I think about it - that is probably not the best description for what I was trying to convey. With the elegance of the NMM for the gold - having it spattered with red paint everywhere creates a competing "style" if you will and looks out of place.

Perhaps - with it being a WIP - when you shade/highlight the blood it will blend in more with the overall style of the figure.
