Here is a slightly converted Hive Tyrant i just painted at my local GW shop (im on holiday),I received some tips from a guy who works there but i did all the painting.I don't actually play tyranids but got the Hive Tyrant as a gift so decided to paint it, i got some Carnifex pieces from a friend and used them for the small conversion.Oh and if you're going to rep me, notify me so i can thank you.

Wow, that's a really nice colorscheme expertly painted. I also love the few green details.

And what is it with french people and painting brilliantly? You got a great carreer in the future, svalene. Future golden demon winner, mark my words!

Thanks for the comments, but i don't think i'm nearly good enough to be in a golden demon, or will be anytime soon.

Nice work indeed.

I think the colours have worked well, and are nicely painted.
The base looks fairly decent also. Its plain and basic, and I think this helps to being out how well painted the mini is.

Kudos :)

Well done, your Tyrant looks great.
I really love the way you have achieved your shading.

And why don’t you play ‘nids? They are the greatest !

Very, very nice figure. There is so much going on there, that you almost have to stop and look for a moment before you can fully appreciate it.

Fantastic paint job! Are the wings from the Orc & Goblin dragon? Those look very familiar. Either way - I enjoyed it!
Reps for you.

The conversion came out very nice. Do you have any WIP shots that you would be willing to share? The transition of the parts is very clean.

I also very much like the base. Can you talk a bit about what you used and how it was constructed? I am interested in the materials for sure. It is very simple yet very powerful in its appearance.

Cheers,

-Mike

I don't actually have any WIP shots,i took the pictures after it was finished, sorry.

The base i made with some smooth cardboard pieces i cut.I scraped them and cut them a bit to make it look rougher, then painted it gray

Hmm. Did you have any problems with weigth on the cardboard? It looks good but I am having a hard time grasping how it would hold up to the weight of the figure. Did you do anything to strengthen it?

Cheers,

no i just got regular cardboard, glued it very tightly to the base and it holds pretty well. The cardboard isn't much above the base so it doesn't break.and the figurine isn't too heavy so it's fine
