This is a tough one.

A ton of fast-moving combat monsters up against an evil gunline.

I think ultimately it depends on how the Webway Portal is used. If used to only drop in half the army (rather than the "all" we've been seeing), there could be some nasty units showing up Turn 3. Can they charge on the turn they arrive?

Otherwise, all it takes is a couple of units to hit cc with the IG and that's the death warrant, and there will be combat Turn 2, so there will be one or two shooting phases depending on who gets the First Turn.

That said, one turn of shooting may not be all it takes, but 2 turns will do the DE no favours.

So, I'm going with Vote Withheld until I know who gets the first turn and how many units will be appearing from the Warp, but I'm leaning towards the DE currently.

I'm sort of in agreement with ArchonFarseerGuy. I'm not sure I have enough information to make a great call on this one.

Vote Witheld

I am actually leaning a little towards the IG on this one though. It really does depend on what starts on the board for the DE to me. The more starting on the board, the more the IG can chew up from the get go. But, the less on the board, the more the IG can focus on trying to take out the Webway. 1st turn will be very important here, as well as what starts on the board. For me, the Hellhounds should eat up DE infantry, and the IG have enough guns to tear raiders to bits, and leave the CC guys to run.
The Archon however can shred a good deal of the IG all by himself. At that point, it beomes throwing bodies at him in an attempt to do him wounds.

Forgive me for my lack of Dark Eldar knowledge but what is an Animus Vitae? I assume it is not game breaking though.

Anyway, I think the Imperial Guard will win this battle as:

The Guard player could concentrate all fire (ON THE SUPER STAR DESTROYER!) on the Dark Lances and Ravagers to remove all anti tank fire (leaving his tanks with free rain of the battlefield). As their are only 20 wounds of Dark Lances and ravagers are so easily killed (all you need is a 3, 5 or 6 on the glance table and its dead either this turn or the next, a Plasmagun on single shot has a 1/8 chance of doing this) this is not as optimistic as it seems. After the Dark Lances and Disintegrators are gone it matters not what happens to the humble infantrymen as their will be up to 5 tanks still on the board that can contest all quarters and plug away for a few turns.
The Guard player could split his deployment. As this is a somewhat slow Dark Eldar army when you get down to it. Which ever flank the WWP is deployed near is the sacrificial flank with the other quite safe from the 7-12 moving assault element of the Dark Eldar.
The Guard could stand in a glorious line, safe in the knowledge that they can easily out shoot the Eldar and if they assault then the guard will be able to mob them. 95 models vs 49 does no look good when both sides have T3 and SV5+ or worse. Casualties from shooting as the Dark Eldar approach would also be enormous (especially in their specialist combat units as they would be focused on) further reducing their chance of winning a 10 round rifle butting competition.
Its 11 scoring units versus 16 scoring units with the 16 containing the more durable units as well (ie - Leman Russ).
Dark Eldar are not very good against GEQ (Dark Eldar excel against MEQ though).

@ AFG and frampunk - Thanks much for your thoughts, but I'm loathe to start giving out turn orders and deployment orders after having already completed the other rounds without them. It just seems unfair to me, as these could have affected previous battles. If you can, please do your best to make a decision with the information already given. It would be most appreciated.

This is so close.

If the IG get the First Turn
The DE will get the crap shot out of them within the two turns it takes to hit the IG lines. The casualties taken will be too immense to count for anything come combat.

If the DE get the First Turn
The one Shoot Phase will be very minimal with everyone getting only glancing hits/++ Saves etc. Turn 2 will hurt the IG very badly. Once they hit the humans lines, they will keep going and going and will be simply unstoppable.

But,
Since I have to pick one without knowing who gets Turn 1, I'm going to call the DEs weakness in the Webway Portal. I'm convinced it will be used, and even one mistake could see some valuable units being shot at, or a slower advance.

Since it's such a science, I'm voting with IG, but only just.

Kroxi, who said anything about a sacrificial flank? That's the other IG list.

I fully understand, Hotspike

I think I'm gonna have to go Guard on this one.

Hellhounds and pieplates will tear up infantry, and there's enough big guns to knock down skimmer transports. I think the webway might actually hurt the DE, because by that time, the IG guns will prob. be looking for something new to shoot.

Alright guys, that's the end of voting for this round. Look for the finals soon!
