Sup dudes. I had started painting a few marines in this color scheme:

However, i am also wanting to do more than just this color scheme, but i dont really have a good idea for a new one. Im thinking something with either blue, darker grey, emperors children, Death Guard, Alpha Legion, or something else.

Ideas? Suggestions? Would really appreciate them

Thanks in advance,

Mike Zealous

the one you painted has nice colors but it ends up looking a bit plastic. Maybe you should darker all the colors you are using now.

I'm assuming that this is a testfig and not a finished model. It's an awkward angle to get a good idea of the detail but it looks like it could use some detailing to break up the rather broad expanses of gray. I've never personally been into grey schemes because they frequently look unpainted, particularly from a distance. It has promise but I'd need more pics and definitely more detailing to be sure.

Try giving a black wash over the lighter gray areas, I did some gray marines once, and a black wash really helped bring out detail, weather them a little and make them look less spue-fresh.

Perhaps darken the grey, and then highlight the blues significantly, as it is the model has a good basic color scheme, but doesn't really "pop". Good start, though.

Ty for the compliment. I am thinking about doing that, but i dunno how much darker i should go, because ive seen a scheme that used codex grey and white, but it was kinda bland. I might try shadow grey or even try going with white instead of grey.

Yeah, its kinda a testfig, for both the scheme, and some newer techniques i learned, along with a new pearl finish i found in the store. Ill direct you and the others to my photobucket: crumpetking/40k - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting (http://s212.photobucket.com/albums/cc30/crumpetking/40k/?start=20)

Good idea. I might used watered down Chaos Black, because the washes dont work on my dudes that well. Thanks for the help

Ty dude. I think i might, like swap out the blues for Regal Blue, and darken the grey. I tried a Bleached bone and Blue/green scheme, but it didnt work out so well

Its a bit flat but that could be solved by shading via washes and some highlighting. It will look good once some depth is added.

IMO, i would never use Grey as a base color. Like some one said "It makes the model look unpainted at a distance". What i would do is use space wolves Grey and highlight with a second Grey color. space wolves Grey is a very strange Grey, and its almost blue so you can highlight it with Grey and people wont think its unpainted, a word of warning don't paint the whole model with this... some people may think there space wolves...:thunder:

Just keep working on it and it will be awesome in no time!

Ty for the ideas. I didnt take the pic right, but i did do some shading with watered down Codex Grey, and i figured a coat of Pearl Finish would provide realistic highlights, cause it makes the armor shiny on raised parts.

Ty dude:soldier: I should pick some of that up. Funny you should mention the space wolves, cause my guys were inspired by pics of luna wolves ive seen by Zeeza.
