Remember that poll where I asked everyone what they thought should be my color scheme? Well, I finally finished him today. All comments welcome! (And I know, he's not a modeling feat.)

The green looks nice and bright. But without better piccos i can't really comment any more. Green_Meep July 14th, 2008, 18:32 Well, that's what happens when you use my 'sunlight', a.k.a. a lightbulb.
Are these better?

See if your camera has a macro setting (the flower) if not..well, i'm not sure what you can do Green_Meep July 15th, 2008, 01:30 Or maybe you have to wait a little bit longer for it to fully load? That's what happens on some computers, 'cause it looks fine on mine. If that still doesn't work, I guess I'll have to keep my Scar-vet to my self :P
I put up the 'revised' photos, because they weren't at the top... now they are! Ifurita July 15th, 2008, 02:19 They take forever to load for me too. Suggest you find an app to reduce the size to 600 x 450 or something. If you don't have one, go to IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide (http://www.irfanview.com). Irfanview is free and an excellent tool. M'ichal July 16th, 2008, 15:59 grrrrr...I honestly do not understand why ppl post blury pictures, you're using a digital camera for Pete's sake, you can review the pic and if it's blurry, take it again! how can you post something so abysmal, it's a blurry mess, don't tell me you can't see it!
If you're not swift with cameras, put the camera in AUTO mode and make sure the flash is on, the camera should be able to take a non-blurry photo. If you knwo more about cameras, increase the shutter speed to at least 1/60 and if all that doesn't help, consult ur manual, there's gotta be a way to take a sharp pic of that subject!
sorry, just got really annoyed, grrr ;( Zarahemna July 16th, 2008, 16:09 How many LO members does it take to change a light bulb? Or point out that photos aren't so good. This thread has got more attention than good photos do. Rep for you Mr Lizardman M'ichal July 16th, 2008, 17:01 How many LO members does it take to change a light bulb? Yeah, so maybe next time we don't say anything and the poster will just sit there asking "why aren't u responding to my questions?"
"because we can't properly respond due to bad quality pictures, but we don't wanna say anything to not hurt you" King Ulrik Flamebeard July 16th, 2008, 19:16 grrrrr...I honestly do not understand why ppl post blury pictures, you're using a digital camera for Pete's sake, you can review the pic and if it's blurry, take it again! how can you post something so abysmal, it's a blurry mess, don't tell me you can't see it!

M'ichal - I understand your annoyance, but please try and be a little more helpful in your messages. This is not helpful, in that you are insulting a member. Try to keep things civil otherwise I shall have to issue a warning.
Thank you.
Kuffy M'ichal July 16th, 2008, 22:14 But I did help, I gave tips on how to take better pics! =)
alright, alright, everything's cool :handshake: ArtificiallyEnhanced July 17th, 2008, 01:06 Right, I'll try to comment on the actual mini here, as I personaly know how difficult it can be to get good quality picks when you're completely cack-handed with a camera!
The scales look really nice, the colours you've used go together well. Personally, its not what I would plump for, however, it looks good, from what I can see. With regards to the green, it seems a little bright and cartoony. If you can dull this down a little as it takes away from the colour of the scales/skin then that would improve the feel of the paint job. However, I can see why yo would have tried as going for the jungly theme. I'm afraid for me, brave though it was, it hasn't quite worked.
Perhaps a little flock or similar on the bases would help detract from the brightness of the green.
I'd like to see a regiment of them painted up though. It would look rather impressive. Green_Meep July 17th, 2008, 17:39 Thanks, ArtificiallyEnhanced, for the comments.
Once I find my camera/some time, I'll try to post better photos. ArtificiallyEnhanced July 17th, 2008, 18:27 No problem. Would be good to see some more photos. Do you have any plans for a unit like this at all? Thedeadmonky July 18th, 2008, 19:51 hey so from what i can tell the scales look excellent, and have a good lustrian-jungle quality to them. however, as pointed out above, the green is too bright for my taste, so id make it darker.
you could either try repainting it with dark angles green with a snot green highlight. you could also try darkening the green you have with washes of black/green inks..
again, better pics would help a ton Green_Meep July 19th, 2008, 04:38 Let's try this again. Now, I have read Minus_T's almighty guide to miniature photography.

Step 2: Exposure = -2.0. Check

@Thedeadmonky: Since the green represents the sacred mark of Tzunki, I thought that he would want it prominently displayed, with relatively bright colors.
@ArtificiallyEnhanced: I'm getting another box of saurus sometime so I can finally complete my army. So, I'll probably paint those in this color scheme. The only problem is they don't have the mark of Tzunki, so they might look very different. Backdraft005 July 19th, 2008, 22:32 I found that the marco setting and using natural light is the best way for me to take pictures. It really depends on the capibility of the photographer and the camera.
Looking good buddy. Keep up the good work. Green_Meep July 21st, 2008, 02:17 Thanks for the tips, Backdraft. Everyone who said that I posted blurry photos, could you take another look please? Backdraft005 July 21st, 2008, 03:53 Hey meep, i would suggest one thing when it comes to paint, I would ink the skin or the scales, not both. my buddy lightly inks the scales and the contrast is good. hope that helps. There you go man! The difference is like night and day, I can see the guy now.
As someone mentioned before, I don't really like the bright green shields.
The saurus itself is not really my style, I prefer cleaner schemes, but the way you made it makes him look really filthy, dirty, savage...chaos saurus? If that's what you were aiming for, I guess you got your result. But in that case, you really need to do soemthing with the shield...unless the idea is that he got a wrong Christmas gift ;)
Again, props on the pics, I'm glad you read up and made improvements :) Green_Meep July 21st, 2008, 18:11 There you go man! The difference is like night and day, I can see the guy now.

I just realized why the shield didn't look like it was supposed to, I forgot to mix in some black :P.
He hasn't been corrupted by Chaos, no. However, I was going for the "flithy, dirty savage" look, because that's what I think lizards are supposed to look like. I mean, a croc's not going to be "Oh, yeah, when you feel like it, you can wander over and stick your leg in my mouth...".
Thanks for the compliments, btw :D Green_Meep July 25th, 2008, 20:03 We don't bump on LO. If you have proper content to add then you may do so, but please don't just make nonsense posts. - Kuffy | |
