Hi.
First forum post and also first time painting a warhammer miniature, or painting of any kind.
I bought the GW hobby set & the Battle for Skull Pass Paint Set.
The night goblin was painted using one standard GW brush. I tried to use techniques of highlighting and shading, with color mixes and washes.
Please can you give me any tips as I hope to become a master painter someday.

Thats really not that bad for your first model. But if you're going to get serious into painting the models, you'll want some smaller/different brushes than just the standard. If you don't want to drop the $8+ a pop for the citadel ones, goto an art store and pick up at least a 0 and 00 brush to go with your standard. (equivilent to a fine detail and detail). And a drybrush wouldn't hurt either.

And don't forget to scrape/file off those moldlines!

Remember to wash all your mini's before painting too, if you didn't already.

That's pretty good, if you painted up a unit of those they would look great on the battlefield.

I agree with above poster though, you really should clean out the mold lines.

You need smaller brushes for some of the details, and maybe to keep your work a little more clean. The yellow of the moon runs onto the shield somewhat (maybe that was intended), same with the belt on the robe, and the teeth look a bit too white.

The paint looks a little thick and the model looks a little too shiny... but that may just be my computer screen or the photo

Overall though, I would say this is great work.

Nice stuff for a first timer. Mould lines are very apparent. You need to spend some time cleaning those up. Go back to the game store and pick up a bottle of the Devlan Mud and Badab Black washes. I'd hit the entire figure with the Badab Black and see what it does for you.

Personally, I favor Liquitex Paynes Grey over the black wash, but I think you;ll be pleasantly surprised by the results.

Good advice by all. I would add that you need to wash your fig with a dark color for shading and drybrush with a light for highlights.

Sorry to be really critical, but the moon on the shield could probably use a quick coat of a lighter brown-orange (not sure what it translates to in GW paints), then try drybrushing the yellow over it. That'll give it depth.

Also, try to use light coats, or else the mini ends up looking... well, plastic.

But, with that said, great first-time-mini. Certainly much better than mine *shudders*.
