This is my idea for a scheme, I wanted to keep this very simple compared to other ideas I've tried as my marines are already primed white, I want to do as little painting as possible, and with white it helps show details better than black all over...

So what does everyone think, I have the red colors will be sargent/heavy weapon colors differing from unit to unit but the yellow and black trim/pads will be the main steady colors.

I'm sorry I feel like I've walked into a discussion and somebody deleted the first half. What's going on? Your Veteran Sarge and special/heavy weapons Marines will be a different coloured red depending on the unit?

If you want to do as little painting as possible, you should look into dipping. With the new Citadel washes you might not need to.

Nah I want to keep the white, but just paint minimally, I will be using red helmets for sarges, and like blues and greens and yellows for other types of weapons like flamers and missile launchers if that makes sense.

I don't know if dipping is the best idea because I want to also learn to hold the brush a little better and get cleaner lines when painting, and nothing says pressure like painting a big black stripe on a white marine.

Sounds good - personally i would keep squad helmets the same, apart from the sergeant...

but what you've got going on sounds similar to what the Blood Angels use.

As for white, Minus-T has a great tutorial on here, but that is a lot of painting.

With the new washes however, i think you should be fine, however you will be needing to touch that white up...

I'd base white, wash with either badab black or asurmen blue depending on how you want them to look, then go over it with a very very very light grey to cover up the wash spillages, and then finally get the white on the go....

I can't see anything, just a box with a 'X' in it. Could you post a link to the images so I can look at them. Cheers.

HAHA! the link has disappeared...

Maybe the site only brings them up termporarily... I didn't save the scheme on my computer cos I figured it would last but basically it was red helmet. with black trim yellow shoulderpad on the left and yellow trim red shoulder pad on the right.

White can be a real pain to execute well but if done properly this could be a very sharp scheme. Do they have a name and symbol?

Hmm yes white can be a pain...

Minus-t has a very good tutorial which I followed and got a good result with the one marine I did...

The new washes and foundation paints from citadel however should give a good range of options for painting white...

I like the darkness that a black base and a heavy wash give the models. However if your having white as the primary color a white base would obviously be better. Maybe i just enjoy painting them too much.
