These were posted on Warseer. Of late Mr Abnett has been rather quiet but then he pipes up with these.

Talked to Dan Abnett at gamesday yesterday about the new guants ghosts novel and he mention that the 3rd trilogy in the Eisenhorn series will be focused around Alizebeth Bequin (the blank who fell into a coma after trying to slay a chaos titan). H didn't give much detail accept that it will follow a conflict between Ravenor and his former master Eisenhorn. Release date he didn't mention but iut is the next thing he is working on after the ghost novel.

I think this is awesome as i loved the past two trilogies.

However, first and foremost there is a anthology of Eisenhorn and Ravenor based short stories to come before this will appear.

If memory serves, I believe Mr. Abnett has finished all the shorts, but there has yet to be any release date for them, be it official or otherwise.....much to my dismay.

The anthology I knew about but I did not know about them being a set up for a new series. This is indeed good news.

Doesn't Eisenhorn eventually turn to the Ruinous Powers....or am I thinking of someone else?? It's been a long time since I've read either series. Or was it that Eisenhorn just finally met his end??

Eisenhorn kept the existence of certain artifacts a secret from his superiors, and eventually turned to using Daemonhosts and other less than noble powers.

Eisenhorn still fights against chaos and other enemies of the Imperium, he has just turned towards radical methods to do so.

Bequin's coming back? Great! Lots of characters die in Abnett's books, but Bequin's coma was worse then all the other deaths combined, for me as a reader. I just found her to be such an awesome character and it was a necessary shame for her to have been removed from the third Eisenhorn book so suddenly and so soon.

I am currently experiencing pure unalloyed joy. The Eisenhorn trilogy is still my favourite book of all time so this is prettymuch the best news I could have heard from Mr. Abnett!

Ok, maybe I'm just thick here, but... whadya mean TWO existing trilogies? I only know of the one which ended with Bequin's coma as described above. That's not the first trilogy Abnet wrote? I'm confused.

He was referring to the Ravenor trilogy, I believe. He was calling that the second Eisenhorn trilogy, even though it is really a seperate series from Eisenhorn.

That's debateable - he certainly became a radical, so I suppose it's up to the reader to decide if he turned to Chaos or not. Personally I don't think so - he did still try to serve the Emperor in his own way. And Ravenor directly consorted with aliens! Bit of a sad lookout for Ordo Xenos everywhere...

Yeah, the second trilogy was the Ravenor trilogy, there's a fair amout of crossover between the two. Of course, the only real trilogy is still the Star Wars trilogy - everything else is just a set of three. Pretty good books, though! Don't get me wrong - if you're just after sci-fi then pick up some Larry Niven - I recomend The Mote in God's Eye - but if it's 40k sci-fi you want, you can't say fairer than Abnett.

Aha, gotcha. Thanks for the distinction.

To tell you the truth, I'm not a huge fan of the Black Library on general principle. No slam to anyone here who's a fan. I'm just not, is all. Abnet's Eisenhorn was decent, but I didn't like the writing style. Long story, which I won't bring up here. PM me if you want to discuss further.

I don't have Black Library up in front of me, but I do believe the Omnibus of all three has not been released yet.

it hasnt, all 3 are seperate still, there is an omnibus due out but not for another 12 month or so, everyone knows how long it took the Eisenhorn trio to come out and Ravenor Rogue only came out last year....
