Well, I've been stuck on my IG, and been itching for them to get here. And now that they are, I've started slopping paint around just looking for that perfect camo scheme. Here's what I've got so far.
(Note: The yellow pad is the SDI, Squad Designation Indicator, so changes from squad to squad. Also, the edging on the Sergeant was just an experiment, no way in relation to the camo schemes itself.)

Now, I also realize that all these colors need some shading to get them to stand out some on the edging. I'm still figuring out how to do that. with them. Any suggestions there would be greatly appreciated.

The guy at the far right is my 'standard' coloration. He's the normal colors, a testors enamel Rust color, with a testors enamel flat brown shirt. I'm currently in the process of swapping over to acrylics for these guys, however I'm just having issues mixing up a good matching rust color and have something like four bottles left of the stuff :P

Now, Sergeant Color Bob, my test monkey for the whole coloration thing, is a take on the Australian scheme; really light blobs of color. Its a light tan and then a really light yellow-white color, overtop both of the original colors. (Bob is also the very first guardsmen I painted. His helmet used to be a flat brown like the shirt, but I changed that tonight trying to get a rust color match up from the acrylics)

Private Joe Snuffy (who just fell and broke yet AGAIN...and lost his canteen and ammo AND grenades..that's coming out of his pay!), in the center is a take on one of the camo designs on the GW site for 'wasteland' camo.

So, now I need to fish for opinions here: Do I leave it the same? Do I use the Sergeant's camo? Do I use the Private's? Or is there another scheme someone else thinks would work really well?

The only thing I don't want to do is have to repaint my guardsmen entirely! I've already got a frighteningly massive list of "To Do" on my plate for this game as it is!

Ive got one squad of guard i painted in a traditional USA BDU camouflage can I make the recommendation of a much finer brush and a little less paint per dab. Its more work but I think you'll like the results a little better.

I'll have to try that with a nice DCU color set. Like I said..the first one with the huge blobs is patterened after the Aussie camo pattern. The other one I'd kinda like is the british/kiwi pattern, but I'm unsure on colors for it.

Could always spend countless hours painting different shades of blue/grey boxes on them and make the ACU patern. Would take forever, but would look bad assed. Hell, might even draw a US army sponsor for tourneys.

...I wear ACUs enough as it is! I don't want my poor guardsmen wearing it too!

At least I didn't say to put them in Class A's
Uhg, poor guardsmen...

To think the Mordians actually enjoy that uniform.

For camouflage schemes - just Google whichever is closest to what you want...I imagine desert camo would fit with your colours - you can see how it is all meant to work then...click HERE
(http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=desert%20camo&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi) for a wide range of options that would look cool...

As for shading, can't go wrong with the citadel washes...for skin and the clothing...a brownie shade will tie everything in nicely

Yeah, I just tried out the Ogryn Flesh on my...Ogryn, of all things, and it was wonderful. I'm buying the whole set now.

As for the camo schemes, I'm surrounded by them every day! You'd think I'd have picked a desert scheme that would lend its colors better...

Oops just saw you last post after i edited mine...

I'd personally go with a lighter colour to start - I've got Dhneb Stone from the foundation paints range which is a great base to use...and will really give you a good solid place to start from with an Ogryn Flesh wash too...

I rather like the Desert Storm camo (its the first one on the search). I wish I hadn't painted my guardsmen the color they are...but at the same time, I don't want to go through with the cleaning and repainting of them, you know? I love the look of my metal models!

I wore BDUs brown and green for 6 years when I was Air Force so I can understand not wanting my guys wearing them but since I only have the 10 guardsmen (not even sure if I have a Sgt for them) I painted them in tribute to my old unit I had thought about mocking up an F15 to go with them but....... that never happened.
