Hi Folks,
I’m looking to get a lot more serious with my wargaming.
So I want to enter a few tournaments or events next year.
So my question what would be the best ones to go in the U.K for next year (2009)?
And what should I do to get ready for them?
Any help would be great as I’m pretty clueless on this issue.

Wow, now that's planning ahead!
Well, what are the big events close enough for you to travel to?

Well, theres the GT next year, but Im guessing you already know about that.
The 09 GT season won't start unitl next Oct time, so theres plenty of time to get an army ready for that... of course, that would be the case if you were only wanting to go to the GT.
Warseer normally runs its Carnage tourney in March IIRC.
The WPS normally hold 40k and fantasy tourneys also, but IIRC haven't done so this year.
Welcome to the Warhammer Players Society (http://www.players-society.com/)
Thats the website. Theres nowt up for next year, but it might be worth bookmarking and maybe sending them an email asking about nexts year 40k line-up.
Theres also tourneys held in or around the Bristol area. I believe one the events in known as the Bristol Brawl. Its not something I've been to myself, but I've had a mate who has done it a few times now.
The only advice I'd give about getting ready for tourneys is to playtest loads. Try your list against as many different types of armies in all the different deployment setups and missions. That way you'll get a strong feel of what your army can do in as many different situations.
