Hey guys,

About 6 months ago a friend started me into the WH40k world, and we were learning 4th edition. I got hooked and found the modeling and painting aspect relaxing, and time away from the PC. (work at a computer all day). I have a considerable Ultramarine army collected, and only a portion is painted. Been taking tips from all over, and trying to learn as I go. All of the Tactical squad is from the Battle for Macragge.

They all look very good! Nice and clean paint jobs! All you'd need to do is to just start adding more and more depth.

Very nice, especially for your first attempt at painting! A lot of people atart off and the paint job is a sloppy affair. Now that you have a tabletop army ready, you could go back and add some extra shading into the models at your leisure.

Splendid job. Nice and tidy with no muss, you might want to look into some of the washes to make them look a little more dingy. As they stand some of them look a bit bright so maybe the black wash could help out there. Just be careful not to go overboard as these can make it look worse if used incorrectly and will end up leaving a shiny coat on them. Test this out before doing anything important. Good work so far, keep it up.

i would suggest working on some washes for your metals this is instant upgrade, also start with what everone is saying more depth.

for the metals a chaos black wash is good and for golds i use shining gold base then a chestnut inkwash folow up with a highlight of burnished gold(can just stick with shining gold though) and finish with a very light drybrush of mythril silver

for the blues i would suggest starting of with a darker blue and build up to the lighter colors, though since these are already painted you could try out a black wash for some more detail

yeah for your first time very good! only thing i see is on larger surfaces it looks like its a little clumpy and a little thick but that could just be the camera :) add some highlight and they will be out of this world! HELL they are already REALLY REALLY REALLY good!!! nice work!
