View Full Version : How many folks are generic? Liffrea September 30th, 2008, 17:59 What I mean is if you play Eldar in 40K do you play High Elves in WFB? If you play Chaos Marines in 40K do you play Chaos in WFB?
Me I only play IG in 40K but if I was to play WFB it would be Empire. Munch September 30th, 2008, 18:15 No I like eldar but I don’t like elves I like orcs but not orks and I like chaos space marines but not hordes of chaos.Mmy armies are orcs and goblins vampire counts chaos space marines and eldar Toastee September 30th, 2008, 19:35 Nah not really... at least not me.
I play SM, Tau and Orks in 40k and want to play Dwarfs and all the three elf races in WFB. CaptainSarathai September 30th, 2008, 19:56 I only play Marines in 40K, which I guess would be 'vanilla' considering that I play both of the human races in Fantasy, but my main army is the High Elves, and while I've toyed around with the thought of playing Eldar, I can't bring myself to do it. Same goes for Orks, I have an extensive Fantasy army waiting in the wings, and I intend to start Space Orks once I finish my current project.
People play whatever appeals to them. In fact, some of the armies don't relate to eachother at all when they cross systems (I'm lookin' at you Eldar!) Kai-Itza September 30th, 2008, 19:57 I play Lizardmen in WHFB, though I liked the whole imagination of the Tyranids. It was the Greater Good that had won my hobby heart
And now I'm finally unleashing my dark side with Chaos Space Marines, with my own legion called the Dark Knights (corny, I know, but the name sticks ;))
-Kai-Itza- Quick September 30th, 2008, 20:07 Space Marines and Dwarfs? That's kind of a parallel. Both are the heavily armored, low-model count, elite Heavy Infantry types, I suppose.
That's not as glaring a parallel as Orks-Orcs or Eldar-Elves. ArchonFarseerGuy October 1st, 2008, 04:06 Come to think of it, I suppose I am.
My 40K armies are Eldar and =I= Guard, whilst my WHFB armies are Wood Elves and Empire.:tremble:
Though my new OK force does upset that balance.
-AFG// Concilliator October 1st, 2008, 04:24 I prefer evil armies 10 to 1 in whfb-- but in 40k my eyes are drawn to marines ; merely because I see alot of simple customization options with them.
I play VC/DE in fantasy and have not yet started my marine army -- and havent bought any minis yet so Im still up in the air as to what Ill pick in 40k but likely grey knights /marines Deadstar_MRC October 1st, 2008, 04:48 Interesting topic this one, I've never really thought about the crossover all that much!
As for me; I started a Tau army ages back, which has sort of fallen by the wayside when I started a Vampire Counts army. I actually specifically chose a 'Darker' fantasy army because of the Tau being perceived as a somewhat 'less-evil' force in 40K
I have a Sisters of Battle army in the works as well, though it's a somewhat distant project at present.
So, Tau, Vampire Counts, and Sisters of Battle. Maybe I should mention my Vampire Counts army does feature primarily female characters, though (so I guess there's some genericism there!) Ancalagon October 1st, 2008, 11:57 I have High Elves and Orcs & Goblins for WHFB, and the beginnings of a marine army for 40k, so I don't really pick the equivalent races in each game like some people might. In fact, one of the reasons I decided to get a few marines for 40k is because they're quite different to my FB armies instead of going for something similar to them. Space Orks don't really interest me, though I do like craftworld eldar, so you could see a parallel there with my High Elves. But if I were to collect Eldar it will probably be several years down the road. Zemaphore October 1st, 2008, 13:17 40k:
Chaos EC
Space wolves
Eldar
WHFB:
Empire
Vampire count
So i'm not generic? lol kithre October 1st, 2008, 13:31 High Elves in Fantasy, Space marines in 40K, so not so generic, though I do see HE as being more closely linked to the Marines in gameplay style rather than the Eldar... ==Me== October 1st, 2008, 14:25 I play Marines and Orks in 40k, Dark Elves and Skaven in Fantasy. I can see a parallel between Orks and Skaven, though Orks and O&G would fit more.
Does it count if I have Daemons? Izzinatah October 1st, 2008, 21:01 Khoooooorne. Red, hard hitting Chaos for WHFB. Red, melee-orientated loyalist Marines and Red, mega-armoured melee-orientated Orks for 40k.
And little blue goblins, too. fallvictim October 3rd, 2008, 00:02 I guess you can say i stick with the dark and evil theme. My main army's i play are world eaters and vampire counts. I do have some orks but don't plan on collecting them. Tutankhankh October 3rd, 2008, 00:29 I play Dark Eldar and work on a Sisters force in 40k, and I play Tomb Kings and work on a Dwarf force in FB. So, no. Although I'm planning to have Dark Elves as my third and final FB army, and I'll pick up on my shelved Dark Angels as my third and final 40k army once my Dark Eldar and Sisters are done, so if you accept the Dwarfs-Marines parallell, then I will be. White Lightning October 3rd, 2008, 02:52 40k:
Eldar (sold)
Orks
Fantasy
Beasts of Chaos (selling)
Hordes of Chaos
Dwarfs (selling)
Vampire Counts (sold)
If I got any more armies for either WF or 40k I would be generic and get Chaos Space Marines and Orcs (I have both books and really like the fluff and still of play) jikil October 3rd, 2008, 13:37 well i am doing a sm army but i also started a ork and eldar armys for 40k and
i have a dwarf army an orc army and started all 3 elf army and i have lizardmen yeh so i am kinda IronJack October 4th, 2008, 22:15 I guess I am since I play Kroot Mercenaries and I'm getting a Dogs of War fantasy army put together. Both armies are considered outdated and crap...I love it! Chaos877 October 5th, 2008, 04:10 I am! I play O&G in fantasy and orks in 40k. | |
