I want to paint a small army of ghosts but I cat find the WD mag I had with the Lotr ghosts. dose any else know how to achieve this effect

start with a blue base coat then work your way up to skull white, how dark you want your base coat to be is really personal preferance- dark tends to look more spooky but less like an actual ghost- light looks mor ghost like but a bit comical.

Spray white, blue wash.

I like starting with a coloured basecoat (usually codex grey or scaly green) and drybrushing white on top. Depending on how coarse you do the drybrush you can end up with a grainy B+W movie effect

I like using turquoise and highlighting up to white. It makes a great magic/ethereal effect. You have to be fairly smooth, but if you do it right it turns out pretty cool.

I did that guy with Reaper's Snow Shadow and Ghost White, mixed in varying degrees and purple, blue, and violet washes in between layers. He's not a ghost but it's the same colors some of these members are suggesting.

Working with that shade of blue is tedious but it looks sharp in the end.

If you want something quick, this might not be it, but you can always shortcut that kind of thing.
